Mag 254 Video optimization

So I got the MAG 254 - setup with IPguys .. video settings is 1080p - 20/60hz fps

now all channels show HD in their title but are not - most are SD with some being less quality than SD (like espn, and TSNs)

Is this normal for the service? Is there something I am missing? The pictures come up in 4;3 aspect and than I stretch them to make it full screen - but even in 4;3 quality is SD

As for VOD - those are crystal clear 1080P

if it is the service, is there a service that has mostly HD?

The quality of the channels is dependent on your sub (server). Your box has no bearing on the quality of the channels. The same goes for the aspect ratio. It all depends on the aspect and quality that they are streamed at on the server side. I don't know of any service that has true HD quality channels but there are servers that offer a higher than SD quality that is reasonable on a large screen TV. You'd have to shop around and preferably test before buying (that's my way, at least).
