Kell Brook claims he should be Floyd Mayweather's next opponent, not Amir Khan inists he is just a fortnight away from sealing a fight with Floyd Mayweather, the undefeated Kell Brook believes that he should have the right to fight the pound-for-pound king next.
Khan believes his chances of fighting Mayweather were boosted by a routine win over Chris Algieri in New York last Friday, but Brook insists it is his own 35-0 record that puts him in line for a shot at the American.
"If anyone is getting that Mayweather fight it's me," Brook said. "I'm unbeaten, never been beat, never been close to being beat. I'm world champion."
Speaking to ESPN's Steve Bunce on Buncey's Boxing Podcast, Brook was far from complimentary about Khan's credentials in a division where the former Olympic silver medallist has historically struggled.
"Every time Amir Khan steps up he gets beat, he gets knocked out," Brook said. "He didn't look very good in his last fight I've been told. I heard it could have gone either way.
"He's being very clever with his opponents; he's not been in with genuine welterweights."
Brook believes that boxing world is eager for a fight between himself and Khan and that his Bolton-born rival would benefit from the all-British bout.
"It's a massive fight in Britain domestically, it's huge internationally," Brook added. "I think everybody all over the world wants to see the fight between me and Khan."
Khan has been dismissive of Brook's talents and recently claimed he wouldn't give Brook an opportunity because he was confident the Sheffield fighter would not prove enough of a challenge.
But Brook told Bunce that he was tired of being asked about Khan and that the 28-year-old should stop hiding and face him in the ring.
"If he thinks I'm an easy opponent... and he can beat me by ease then why not get an IBF world title belt and then you've got that pulling power and you can really shout loud for the Mayweather fight," Brook said.

The welterweight division is in a sham....no clear top ranking. There should be elimination fights to produce a clear ranking amongst all "pretenders" to the crown.

I would say "money seekers" not pretenders.
No one stands a chance against the Champ.
