I used to be a kick boxer ( a lifetime ago ) but I had a dis-located shoulder, and every so often, I will do something wrong and it "pops" back out, this is a very painful thing to go through, and don't wish it on anyone, well it happened again this morning while in the shower , washing my hair, yeah, just washing my hair..because I have had it happen before, I know what to do to put it back in the socket ( even more painful ) , and now , I will be out of work til at least Monday, I am waiting to hear back from a Dr. and will be going to see him soon, I am sure that they will want to do surgery to correct the problem so that it don't happen again...just wanted to get input from anyone else that has gone through this also, as I don't know what steps will entail on the surgery side ....Thanks..

I had the same problem on my right shoulder occured since I played football in highschool. It happen so frequently to the point I had to get surgery. Most imporrtant thing it will take longer then 3 months for you to recover from that. But when you sleep at night they will give you a sling & a wrap that goes across your body at night let your arms lay straight down your side...but use the wrap to lock your arm in place just in case while your sleeping you dont put your arm above your shoulder. Use the elastic rubber bands to excercise your arm slowly...with out lifting yout arms up....the more you keep working on it the soon you will regain your strength to your arm. My right arm got smaller in begining I was afraid to move it... dont be afraid...you can do excercises just dont raise your arm up high ..... I hope you get better... dislocated shoulder is a painful thing...even after surgery.... it's been over 15 years since I had it....and my shoulder still comes out....everyonce in a while...it's never the same after it comes out....it can always come out again. Just keep your arms tucked against your under arm... take care

Yes It came out several times... Even just trying to start the lawn mower...I yanked on the cord and poped my shoulder out... It's better now knock on wood... But important thing is the physical therapy...use the rubber bands like I said.....to excercise and keep body flowing to your arms...if you keep in the sling... your arm will grow smaller then your other one... because your not moving it. You can go with out the sling...but where the wrap so it keeps your arm from raising up......the 1st year you have to be very careful still... I had to sleep with the wrap because when I sleep in case I roll over my arm...and I had several times that I did that and it came out..... it's your rotator cuff right? I popped my should in my self if you have a waeight bench or lay on your stomach on your bed and let it hang it will pop back in on it's own.... excercise man...is the important thing....
That injury changed my life....can't do anything with out being afraid hehe...I wish I never played football lol...2-3 200 lb guys jumpin on your should when your arm is behind your back...ripped it...
