I have an EMP-CENTAURI 9x8 Multiswitch.
Should I still ground my coax or do I even need to since the EMP is a powered unit plugged in the wall?

I would use a grounding block. Won't save your lnb if hit by lightning but may save receiver. jmo

If the switch is outside and has a metal case then you can ground the coaxes attached to it by grounding the metal case of the switch it's self. <br />

Some switches have a ground lug on them for this...

Wow thanks Terry for the info in all the years I have been playing around with Sats and antenna stuff and the numerous posts of yours I have read about the importance of grounding I never knew about these or more likely don't remember reading about them lol I am ordering a couple today Thanks for the info bro :thumbsup:

One of the better ways to protect your dish and satellite receiver from lightning (if your in a lightning prone area) is to have a lightning rod system installed by a pro, it will also cut down on your insurance bill. (in some areas)

in my area it's part of the electrical code,a throwback to the old yagi on the roof days.
If I remember correctly the old dish/dtv manuals had them shown.
