If you wanted to know what channels on a satellite then you would go to lyngsat. If you wanted to create a channel file then I'm afraid you'd have to scan the satellite. You got me on this one>>>unscanned channel bin file.

I would assume that he wants to clear all his channel list and thinks that there is a file you can load to reset the database to be empty.

Don't have the sv8000...wish I did I could help you out more but from my read you are to factory reset...load the SV8K_Jan2015.bin on your sv8000...after that set your sats up as far as lnb, freq and switch etc. that you are going to scan later. Once you have that info in the dish settings menu save that info on your usb drive as SV8Kblank. That way you have a clean channel.bin file. Once you have that saved on a usb drive then you can scan your sats in. If you ever factory reset again just reload the SV8Kblank. file you have saved. That is the way I'm reading it...hope it helps you out. I've been trying to follow this and your issue and from what I've seen they are a couple of tp's not setup in the sv8000 and that SV8K_Jan2015.bin corrects it.

If the sv8000 has close to the same options as the sv360p...once you insert the usb drive and then open it up in the usb menu in the stb you should be able to create and save a channel.bin file.

Ah..... like an updated tp/sat file but with your antenna settings. Not to get away from your question, but couldn't you just update/edit the tp prior to scanning? Anyhow abouttosnap has your problem figured out. good luck

You should be able to go in and add, edit and delete tp's or that's the way it is on most of the older SD stb's I've messed with. The only thing I can figure seeing the SV8000 is one of the older or oldest HD stb out there there are some tp's that it can't pick up because of all of the tp changes that were made after it came out...without having that stb it's hard to know what it will and wht it won't do. Echo 5 which is Ceil II now or 129W wasn't even being used as an HD satellite back when the SV came out if memory serves me right...can't remember about 61.5W...I know there were HD on either the 110/119 or the 82/91 back in the day when the SV's came out...More time passes the more it is hard to remember.

Anyway from my read this SV8K_Jan2015.bin file corrects a problem with channels on 110/12530, 119/12311 and 129/12472...all seem to be under the same tp now with this file...all though again from my read some channels are still missing...again without that stb some of this is assumption. May be another tp included 110/12501.

Then again if you select current the channels that seem to be under 12311 disappears so still not sure how or what this file does for sure.
