Been reading for weeks of folks with issues regarding Ultimate up/down. I find it surprising and a bit comical where some up while others down but I know home setup plays a big part with the down syndrome. Some years back I had the same experiences till I decided to upgrade to a different receiver. I'm not saying its always the receivers fault but it sure eliminated 99% of my headache. Last night I also watched a football game flawlessly while others were busy posting on the Ultimate up/down thread providing fact, graphs, knowledge, etc as to there down syndrome side of the thread. Don't know but I suppose the channel being viewed can be a bit of the culprit for steady viewing or freezing. Some channels do + some don't while some aren't there at all. But theirs relief to the whole issue, just move back to the other side of the fence or find another service. Theirs been lots that have come and gone, excellent and pathetic but you'll never know till you try. Kinda the name of the game. Buy it, try it and have fun. If its not for you try another, read some more, and try again or try something else. One thing is guaranteed, this game is not for everyone. I love it but know it would be way to time consuming for the average Joe who just wants to watch Miss Piggy flawlessly forever. Of course this is just a hobby for me too that can be here today and gone tomorrow. Have fun, play nice and hope everything keeps playing, lol.

a lot of issues is boxes, another one is DNS servers as well. many of the people could solve things by using an IP instead of a domain name but it seems the ones crying a lot can not grab that concept

I really doubt all of these people have bad receivers. I think what's happening is that ultimate is banning wide ranges of IPs, which is why you have reports of some people being able to connect and others not. You can test this yourself if you have access to multiple testing locations. I've seen this myself where a connection will work from some locations and won't from others at the exact same time of testing.

Ultimate have been saying that they've been getting ddos'd off and on so it might be that they ban entire ranges of IPs when they detect a ddos attempt. The only way to really fix this is to have proper ddos protection in place so that it only filters out the bad traffic.

For example, this is a tcp connectivity checker:
http://check-host.net/check-tcp

You enter the ultimate hostname/ip and port and it'll attempt to connect to it from 17 different locations around the world. A few minutes ago it was only working from 3 locations and now it's working from all. So, in summary the people that are saying the server is down are right and the people that are saying it's up are right. The problem is with the server banning/unbanning ips at various times.

Here's some more info on the connection failures. The traceroute shows that when connections are failing, they are making it all the way to the ddos filter (hop 10) before getting dropped. This is an issue with ultimate's ddos filtering dropping legitimate connections and not issues with receivers, dns, etc.

A lot of bitching and banning with regards to this server of late...and not so late. I believe it speaks volumes. My 2 cents.

plain and simple. Satfix does not condone piracy. We know it happens and if these guys are willing to stick their necks out in public forums advertising services that is up to them. As long as they keep everything in PM it is good. They do have rules to follow.

so do members of this site. a member has a problem with an service then take it up in PM. we really don't want to see it. in addition, members have rules to follow as well. that includes bashing, cussing, discussing pricing etc. anybody that is not aware of the rules should read them.

failing to read the rules does not exonerate anyone and allow them to break them so as long as people keep insisting on breaking the rules the bannings will continue. so far satfix has been more than lenient with offenders and usually a simple warning in a PM will suffice. Ones getting banned are ones that continue with the tirades either in open forums or in Pm to staff.

most members that do get banned for these outbursts are looking at 7 days th first time around but I am stepping it up a notch myself and for those that can not grasp the concept will be gone for 2 weeks the first time around. It is also not just this section with issues. most sellers have the same type of feedback in their sections but some are worse than others and they are all going to get treated the same
