Hi all. I have a ps3 connected to the TV via component cables and the TV connected to my reciever via red and white audio cables. My question is, if I were to get a hdmi cable to connect the ps3 to the TV, will I get 7.1 sound with the TV connected to the reciever via the red and white audio cables?

Hi YarickKi, I started your own thread on this as the post in the other thread was considered a hijack.

And to answer your question...No if you use the red/white audio cables you will only get two channel stereo audio.

Red equals Right channel and White equals Left channel.

7.1 surround sound ether needs the HDMI, SPDIF RCA jack connection (single connection) or the optical connection.

To get all devices to use 7.1 sound you would have to use an audio receiver with the correct inputs from each device, ether all HDMI to the audio receiver, all optical or all coaxial (SPDIF) to the audio receiver.
