I have been paying for my insurance for years, and haven't had to use it, until now...with my shoulder injury, I am now finding out that No-One down here accepts my insurance...I had to go and see a regular Dr. to get a referral to see a specialist , but then, I also need to get x-rays and a M.R.I. , and found out that my insurance doesn't cover that down here, they said that there are places "in my network" in many places in Florida, but the closest is 150 miles away!! and I would have to pay the first $500 for the M.R.I., and they would cover 80% after that, and I would have to pay the other 20% ....what a Joke!

Just wanted to Vent about this, that's all....

I don't blame you one bit. I think it is a joke how the insurance company tells the doctor what to do, instead the other way around.

lol...I know that this is an old thread, but didn't want to leave a question unanswered , I never did anything about it after that, I did drop the insurance after all that happened, and I have since Moved out of the Keys and now In Detroit, MI.

I did the Math though.... For all the years that I paid that Ins. I could have had the surgery paid for 4 times.... Lesson learned for sure...

Hence all my rants over the Insurance companies---quick to collect all their premiums on time but God forbid you make a claim. As far as the doc working for the insurance?---we all know how that works. The insurance co. lobbies the politicians who make the laws---then the politicians adjust the laws in favor of the insurance companies. The Insurance co then lobbies the AMA for all the tests you have thus pouring $$$$ into the system but now they are not liable to pick up the tab for a lot of the tests. Now they got you paying for the tests and the premiums-------nice gig.

Get the government to change the rules that the insurance companies work under.. Get rid of the insurance lobbyists and park your sefl on your local representatives door for changes.

With the change in government, it is going to get a lot worse.
