I changed my internet provider and can't get my router to go with my modem. No problem with the modem. Do I need to reconfigure my router? If so, how do I go about doing this. I have a D-Link router.
Any help on this matter will be appreciated.

When I tried to use it with my new modem, I pushed in the reset button on the back but it still didn't work. I have it working with the old router at the moment.

Thanks Tor.
Costa you have to set the username and pasword in the modem for the new provider.. Never used a dlink , i'm on lynksys myself. But i'm shure that is the issue.. Are you getting a request for the pasword when you try to access the web??
What provider did you adopt.. I'm on VIF and there great. $29 a month unlimited with free modem if annual fee is payed up front.. Fast and relieable.

Actually I did get a request but I never attempted it. New provider is yak, got a good deal with home phone package. I'll give it another shot.

In D-link after reset...threw your browsers you have to set it up...As to what provider you have...and what type..DCHP,DSL...so on..very easy..
If tell which one can help you threw .
Or threw browser...top url..192.168.0.1 That will get you in..First tab..there will be setup for internet..It will walk you threw with automatic settings..or manual if you know them .
cheers
If you remember a few weeks ago when I had to go out of town to work, this is what I was doing for 3 weeks lol....I was switching everyones internet service and with that I had to install a lot of routers. The trick is to follow these steps in exact order....I dealt a lot with D-link too...hope this helps...
1. Unplug router from power
2. Unplug Modem from power
3. Plug your modem in and make sure you have it hooked up properly, either through cable or DSL (doesn't matter which)
4. When you have sucessfully browsed online with just the modem hooked up, then plug your ethernet into your router
5. Plug router into power and wait a few minutes.
That should be it....let me know if it works, I may have some other ideas if it doesn't...but 95% of the time that will do it...hope it helps bud

192.168.0.1 username : admin, leave pass blank and click okay, you will be able to see on the status page if the router is connected to the modem, and you could hit reset from that page ( release ) , and then hit renew, that should work also....

Thanks for all your responses, after spending 3 hours with yak and d-link, everything is a go. Modem had to be set up for bridge and the router had to be reconfigurated.
