For anyone that is into Police Scanners and want to monitor your local Police using a $10.80 USB PC device called RTL-SDR.

I can monitor LAPD which are Apco-25 digital (P25) with a $10.80 RTL-SDR usb stick + DSDplus software.

Just search RTL-SDR on ebay and youtube for info and details on how to work this to monitor Digital Police.
The RTL-SDR sticks within the USA go for about $10.00 and up, while ordering from china they can be as low as $5.00 but take weeks to arrive. YMMV

Its alot cheaper then buying a hand held digital scanner that goes for $100 and up depending on brand/model and condition.

for $10.80 its alot of fun

BTW: You will need minimum a dual core PC with at least 2GHz CPU, so don't use your grandma's PC OK !!!!!!!! LoL

Depends on what type of radio your local pd and fd. Also depends on if your local signals are encrypted, if so as far as I know nothing is available publicly to decrypt the audio.
There's a website called Radio Reference that should give you the info for your local area.

to scan trunk you will need 2 RTL's. here is a video I posted on youtube using a $10.00 RTL and listening to my local Police which is L.A.P.D and its Apco-25 aka P25.
