The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission is set to rule on the fee for carriage battle between television broadcasters and cable...
Well it seems the CRTC ruled in favour of the broadcasters and has said that they will be able to negociate a fee from the cable and satelitte providers..
Everyone should be prepared for a rate hike for their local and national networks..:grr:

I like how they always say "a fee from the cable and satelitte providers", when we all know its us, the users who will have to pay this TAX. Its not looking good for Canadians when a non-elected committee can invoke a new tax. I have already told shaw that I have been paying for local channels since 1998 and if they pass this new TAX onto me I will close my account. I know it will not make a diff to them, but it will to me.
Seems that the CRTC is suggesting to the cable and sat operators to swallow the fees.. We all know what that is going to do.. The other point I heard is that the CBC will not be paid by the carriers since they have a subsidy from the taxpayer.. LOL It never makes any sense.. Like you said its the bottom of the food chain that ends up paying for it..

Not only that they opened another discussion on some other things they should of ruled on today also. The flippin CRTC drags things out for so long it drives me crazy. But in the end its just a normal day in Canada.A rate hike is the only thing that ever comes from the crtc, and these idiots are supposed to work for the consumer.Pfft.Next up is rate hikes for internet via user based billing.
