Viewsat Maxhd Problem....need help

i have a maxhd that was working fine with the xx-client program running on my pc.....but the serial port in the maxhd quit working (no reponses)....it also has a hdmi port on the reciever....would a serial to hdmi adaptor work or what do i need to do to get it going again ??....any and all help appreciated

I used the xx-client version from goofather with the ''kickstart'' file included and it work like a charm.....thanks
