My wife's cousin lent me his easycap and I tried using it. Not sure how you got yours working and would like to know because I have not been successful using it unfortunately. Maybe you could give me your step by step set up and instructions because I tried the ones that came with it and no go. Maybe I was missing something but would really like to get all these vhs tapes and camcorder tapes transfered!
I know the unit works for my cousin but I can't figure it out!

I know the unit works for my cousin but I can't figure it out!Wondering what OS you are using. Did you get the mini CD for the driver installation along with instructions. Does the device show up in Device Manager with a yellow flag.I'm using Win7. One more thing to consider is not using the supplied USB cable and plug the EasyCap directly into a USB port, the green light should come on.

I use one of these hummers for my VHS to DVD transfers, it comes with a very good software package for VHS program editing.

I wish it could do TS file conversions.

ok, guys bit of a price difference from Terryl's and SteveOt00, i don't mind spending extra money if one does something more than the other, i just want to be able to record it to my computer, from there it can go to my external hard drive. I assume it is time consuming, as things have to run in real time to record if it does do this? Let me know guys, i want to remove this old cluster of stuff.
steveOtoo
01-20-2016, 06:29 PM
It will record to your Computer.............
Terryl
01-20-2016, 06:37 PM
Yes, it records directly to a PC/Mac or laptop, just be sure to have a very big hard drive as most 1 hr 1/2 shows take about 4 GB.
I have the older version, and used it to transfer all my old VHS tapes to DVD, some I kept on the "D" hard drive (one TB) for direct viewing.
And yes it takes as long as the program on VHS takes to play back, but once on the computer it takes only a few minuets to burn to DVD.

sounds cool, so which one guys? the winner is.....

01-20-2016, 06:58 PM
I would go with the cheaper of the 2 and if you can't get it to work then simply return it as defective and get the other.
@stevo, yes I have the CD, yes I installed the software but my recordings show with the screen on the software going in a bottom of the screen to the top loop.
@Terryl, pm me your email we can go from there for your TS file issue.

serious? I just received today, guy was super quick. I have a small CD, is this the one that will allow recording?
Anubis
01-21-2016, 03:30 PM
Wow! That was quick!!!
From what I read it is probably the driver installation disk without the editing software as in small letters it states editing software is not included. I don't think you need it to transfer. Let me know if it works OK and if you need the edit software I may be able to pull it from the CD I have for you.

super quick. Yeah it looks like installation software, it would be nice to get the editing software as well. if you can sent it great, or lead me to where I can get a copy online. appreciate your help.

use a lite on 5005 dvd recorder, it will copy the whole vcr tape, remember there is protection on those tapes to prevent copying, last year i copied over 100 tapes from a friend nothing upgrades to 1080 i don't think but it works real good, use to be that go-video made a recorder that would do that but the dvd recorder would burn out making them useless, as no replacement for the dvd drive, if i could find a replacement drive then i would have one that worked again.

your a good man Anubis. Just a quick question, can i record with what i have? this is all new to me.
Anubis
01-21-2016, 08:04 PM
You should be able to record with what you have. I checked the easycap I have here and it comes with Ulead video studio 8.0 according to the package so I did some searching and found version 12 available for free download. Only problem is it is a 30 day trial so I will see if I can pull the program off the cd for you.
keegster17
01-21-2016, 08:05 PM
that would be great, I would highly appreciate that. I will look up 30 day trial as well.

email sent. thanks. what about if i have windows 8 and no cd drive? wanted to mess around tonight, but girlfriends computer is windows 8 and there is no cd drive.
Anubis
01-21-2016, 11:09 PM
Don't need to burn the software to disk. Open folder>look for setup with icon that has the ships to the left>double click and it should install.
Should work on win 8 but cross your figures and toes. :)

With no disk drive you will need the drivers that the disk has.
All I sent you was the video editing software which you can install manually.
I can't answer the win 8 question as I run 7 & 10.
If that anxious, simple do a Google search for the drivers. They are available alot easier than the video software is.

ok thanks Anubis.

No problem. Hopefully all works out for you.
I did a quick search and found this. Since it pertains to win 8 and has drivers you should read it.

how do i get my windows 7 to reconize driver? everything works but it will crap out when i record.
Anubis
01-25-2016, 02:03 PM
Open the CD and see what drivers are on it. Don't know if there are drivers there for different OS's or not. If not then hit the web to find driver for your win 7 version and bit rate (32 or 64).

having major issues trying to record on ulead. First ulead recognizes my easycap as OEM device, thought that was incorrect.
i downloaded a windows 7 driver, but is not helping. when i record, after 10 seconds it says, no video was captured, check if there is any input signal, there maybe no device selected.
and below in box on information of ulead, there is two icons with a i, with a circle around it, 720x480 yuy2, and on audio it shows a music symbol pcm 16 bits stereo?

As I said previously I was not successful in my attempts using it. Maybe stevOtoo could chime in. I'll send him a pm and point him here.

If this is not listed your spinning your wheels. If you are still having having problems i suggest spending the bucks and getting the complete package with CD. Where not talking about buying a new car here.

So my issue is the driver most likely? My Cd is for windows 8, computer is windows 7 home premium. I know what your saying about buying another one, but i am already getting a replacement as the first one, the rca connector broke. lol
keegster17
01-29-2016, 04:39 PM
can someone lend some expert advise on this, can't solve this issue for the life of me. In device manager, easycap is listed as OEM device. i have tried different software.

If it's a CD with drivers for W8 then it wont work on an OS that is W7.
The higher version will not talk to a lower OS.
Can you download a set of drivers for W7 from the manufactures web site?
keegster17
01-29-2016, 06:34 PM
Yes Terryl the cd says windows 8 on it, my computer is a windows 7 64 bit operating system. Yeah but which one, I had no luck, i seems to be several options, and i am not computer savoy to know, or fart around to much.

Try the drivers from that link to see if one of them work for you.
