new window keeps oening

maybe some one can help

my old lap top running windows 7

i keep it on it runs okay but now and then when using firefox because i like fire fox

it will open new windows

eg. like when i reply to a pm it will open satfix to a new window and then reply to another it will open a 2rd new window and so on

then i restart the computer and im good again for a few days



is this a virus? i do have a real copy of avg for once and it has not said anything

I would clean cache and temp files first then run Malwarebytes.

Run a scan with adwcleaner from bleeping computer..it's a good one and is also free. Just google it.

OK a few things here which might help.

I think the guys are right and it is probably is some type of malware crap since it is a recurring issue. Some type of garbage like driver detective or conduit slipped on to the laptop and is doing its' thing in the background.

It is quite possible as well that a pop up blocker stopped working or a setting has changed if your firefox has recently done an update.

a newer malware scanner that works quite well for these things as well and they have a 30 day free trial on their program. Check out Reason Core Security as well.

the best way to scan for these type of things is using safe mode and select safe mode with networking so the scanner can communicate over the web if it needs to. Some scanners will work in safe mode and others will not but safe mode is the best option. Also before running the scan make sure all web browser windows are closed.
