I just installed a new JB200 in my JinxBox Ultra v2 . Every thing seemed OK so I started a new manual scan on 91 north . Every thing was going fine until I got to TP 7 , it scanned but then locked up box . Regardless of what I try all I get now is 0.7 in window of box , no picture on TV , and remote hasn't any effect . When I unplug & re plug in it just goes to the 0.7 and sits there , nothing on screen . Is the box screwed ? or is there some way to get this unit responding again ???? Please advise .

Did you just mispell jynxbox or is it a clone jinxbox. Did you have the box off and unplugged from wall before installing new tuner card? Have you unplugged the unit and removed the tuner to see if it boots normal? Did you make sure the tuner card was fully seated when installing? If the unit boots without the tuner card unplug and insert card in the other slot and plug back in and turn on.

Anubis question needs answer but I'll tell you what I will do if the receiver is mine, I will load factory file via RS232 then factory reset with remote control, then via RS232 install the file you are using with that JynxBox, factory reset and see if the receiver response to the remote control, re scan the SATs using Blind Scan Network search ON...TP

That was giong to be my recommendation as a last resort and was waiting to hear back to my questions first and if he was able to get it back without having to use the loader route.

Yes I misspelled . It is not a clone , I had installed a double pole switch which I had turned off when installing the jb22 , have removed card & unit still just gives me the 0.7 . Yes I'm sure the tuner card was fully seated when installed . As unit is the same without tuner card , I didn't try other slot . Please advise

OK, follow the instructions here http://www.satfix.to/showthread.php?123251-How-to-use-the-loader-PDF using this file http://www.satfix.to/showthread.php?119048-JynxboxNA-Factory-file then do a factory default.
Once you have the factory file loaded on the unit then follow the same instructions but use the latest non clone file which is this...http://www.satfix.to/showthread.php?157314-Official-Jynxbox-v251

Just wondering what windows the OP has because I could never do a recovery on JynxBox with Windows 7 I always end with ASH error but if I do the recovery with XP or Vista using the USB to serial adapter the recovery ends well with NOCH on the display (No Channel), don't know why but the USB to Serial adapter doesn't work for me with Windows 7....just my 2 cents TP

Anubis : I have downloaded the three above files without any problems . Do I need another as I can't seem to find the loader updater mentioned above ??? As to the next post by TurboPirate - yes I am using windows 7 . Another problem I struck is my new desktop does not have a serial port on back so when I get brave enough to proceed , I will have to use my older laptop to load the files , it also has windows 7 OS . Please advise . You may notice I am very slow proceeding as it's been a couple of years since I played with this FTA receiver & I screwed up the first one so am stepping very lightly with this one LOL

The thing with windows 7 is that I never could recover a JynxBox nor any STB but with Vista and XP could, just think if you have a friend with a XP desktop with serial PORT, unless someone here knows what is needed to accomplish this with Window 7.

My new USB to serial cable arrived & I decided to try & get JynxBox going again . More problems - can't get it to connect . Only get
target not connected or target is error status . I've tried all ports & all parity settings in drop down window . You mention running in compatibility mode .
not very computer smart so don't know what that means or how to do it . Please advise . As mentioned above , my computers have windows 7 operating systems .

Right click loader icon then click on properties then click on compability tab. Check run this program in compatibility mode and select Windows XP version that will let you run the uploader.

OK - that let me run the loader , load & burn the factory file to it but it still doesn't respond to remote and goes back to 0.7, then reboot . During this reboot I get the bubble screen for a few seconds , then it's back to black screen . It just keeps doing that over & over again. Is it possible that these newer computers just can't do the job ??? TurboPirate mentioned above about having problems using this method . Maybe a older computer is required ??? I know when loading cards , I had to use older computer or a aux power supply to do them . If you think this is possible , I will start looking for a old computer .

that bubble is only suppose to be there for a few seconds... the black screen may be no channels downloaded... did you try the menu button?

Yes I tried the menu button on box & unit doesn't respond to the remote . Was just thinking , the v8 factory bin burn flash seemed to be very quick , (done it several times) took no time burning & I notice it is a much larger bin file than the v251 bin . Thinking that maybe I'm not getting a complete burn flash , only part of it as it seemed to correct part of the boxes problems . It now reboots on its own ,tries to start , goes back to 0.7 , then reboots . Just don't know . Until I get the menu coming up , I cannot do a factory reset or load the v251 . Pretty well at standstill until I can use the menu to proceed to set the box up .

Take out JB 200 module and your Sat in cable then try to boot the box. Make sure box is off and unplugged from the wall before taking module out and disconnecting cable. It alomst sounds like the factory file did not fully install. If the box doesn't boot properly then try flashing the box again with module out and cable disconnected.

OK I have done this and still the same results . I downloaded the factory V8 file again & tried it as well . When doing the upgrade , the download chunk firmware takes a bit of time (approx. 80 seconds) and the progress bar at the top progresses quite slowly along with % . When I try burning it shows nothing for 9 seconds , then bang, goes blue & window pops up saying upgrade success . When doing this the cable has never been connected as I take unit to different room where my desktop computer is . I'm inclined to think you may be right and the factory file is not fully installing ; that is why I asked if it was possible that this newer computer just doesn't have the womp to burn this file fully .

I am confused by your statement "when I am doing this the cable is never connected". Also, the cable you are using is a straight through cable and not a null modem cable correct and you have unzipped the factory file?
The box could be acting stubborn and you may need to flash it several times for the factory file to take. Make sure you are following the loader instructions step by step carefully.
If you still have issues and have a old computer lying around with XP on it or can load xp on it and if not have a friend with one you can try that.
Personally I think the box is being stubborn and you just need to keep working at it.

The cable I am speaking about is the one running to router that goes on back of box .
The cable I'm using for flashing is a new Sabrent USB 2.0 to Serial cable adapter , supports the RS-232 serial interface 9 pin .
I'm not sure what you mean by null modem cable & yes I unzipped the factory file Downloaded zipped 1,689KB , unzipped it is 4,096KB .
I have printed the instructions & following them to the letter . This interface cable plugs into 9 pin serial on back of box & other end plugs into USB on front of computer . Program that came on CD with interface cable turns USB port into com 3 . When I fire up loader program the only difference I see is com 3 instead of com 1 .
I am checking with a son & he may have a older computer kicking around with XP on it that he will let me have .
Yes the box is being stubborn but so am I . ha ha
Anyway , will keep you posted as to my progress .

your adapter appears to be straight through from your description... I believe you need a crossover...
difference between cables...c/p
Hardware: Serial
Problem:
I would like to use my computer's built-in serial port to communicate with a serial device, and I have both the null modem and straight through serial cables. What is the difference between the two cables, and which one should I use?
Solution:
The null modem cable is frequently called a crossover cable. It is used to allow two serial Data Terminal Equipment (DTE) devices to communicate with each other without using a modem or a Data Communications Equipment (DCE) device in between. For this to happen, the Transmit (TXD) pin of one device needs to be connected to the Receive (RXD) pin of the other device. To enable handshaking between the two devices, the Request to Send (RTS) pin of one device must be connected to the Clear to Send (CTS) pin of the other device. Because these pins are "crossed" on the two cable terminals, the name crossover cable is used.
Simple Null Modem Cable
Null Modem Cable with Handshaking
A straight-through cable is used to connect a DTE device to a DCE device. The TXD-RXD and RTS-CTS pins are not cross-connected in this case, hence the term straight through cable.
Simple Straight Through Cable
The built-in serial port on a PC is a DTE device. Modems and printers are examples of DCE devices. Note that an instrument with serial interface could be either a DTE or a DCE device. It is best to check the user manual of the instrument to find out the device type.
To tell if your cable is null modem or straight though, you can search the part number at ni.com, the product description will tell if it is null modem. Alternatively you can use a hand held DMM to test continuity on the individual pins of your serial cable. If every pin is electrically connected to the corresponding pin on the other end, i.e.: pin 1 to pin1, pin 2 to pin 2, etc. then the cable is straight through.

I tried looking up the cable & still am not sure what I have . I have e-mailed the support from the maker asking them if they can tell me . What I have is sabrent usb 2.0 to serial cable adapter part number CB-RS232 .
Maybe you can tell from part number ?

This is a c/p of the bootloop instruction found in the jyxnbox guides section. You should be selecting all chunk not firmware which I suspect you are not doing....follow loader instructions until page 2 then follow the below. Let us know how you make out.
When you get to Page 2 where it says "Make sure the receiver is on and click the Connect button.",you DO NOT select firmware but youselect All Chunk.Once you select "all chuck",down at the bottom of the load you'll see a dropdown arrow.Click the dropdown arrow & select All Files. You need to select "all files" otherwise you won't see the factory firmware.Once this is done, click Next & let the loader do it's thing. It will first read it & then write. If you see an error, don't worry about it,it will retry & finish the process. The receiver will then restart. You'll see "Boot"..."On"..."STRT"..."No CH".now you're good to go.

Making some progress , followed your instructions and now have menu & correct screen , but it is in black & white , remote is working again , was going to do factory reset but password is stopping me , will have to do some reading as I'm sure I seen how to bypass it. Should I proceed when screen is black & white & not in color ??
By the way , I done the operation twice , box may still be acting stubborn .

Can you tell me how to do this , I don't see the button on the remote & have gone through the menu items & cannot find where to do it there ?
Your solution above got me past the password for the factory reset , my next step is upgrading to the V251 bin . Will post how it turns out .

When I try to upgrade to the V251_dual. bin (size 2,340KB) I get the following message :Select file large than slave chunk size .
Chunk size 0X00120000
I am trying to do this using the firmware upgrade , should I be using one of the other options like I had to do for the factory bin file that got the box going ?

Yes I have installed the JB200 & connected the sat cable , everything looks good except in the installing menu , all I get is DTV scan , the rest of the options are not there for scanning my dishes . All the rest of the main sections seem to be the same as they were . I did get my color back by changing the aspect back to 720-60 . During the boot up , I still get the 0.7 for a second then it goes on as normal . Any answer for the installation section ?

Sorry guys , but I'm back with one more question . When setting up server and putting in information I am getting a extra space @ the end . In other words when I shift the underscore across under each letter or number it goes past the last one instead of going back to the first as it should . I need to find a way of getting rid of this extra space for a letter or number . This happened to me when I first started but for the death of me , I can't remember how I solved it . I have filled in the information both from the remote & the remote box that you get when double pressing the OK button . I can delete any of the letters or numbers but can't find a way to delete this extra space at the end of the string so need your knowledge again .

Before you input the server info when you have the screen with the alphabet open hit the red button about 2 extra times when everything has been deleted. Sometimes it leaves a space there which could be what is messing you up. Once the box is empty enter your leters, numbers whatever then go straight to done. I am not exactly positive on your issue from reading your post so flying blind answering.

May be I'm not explaining it correctly , have done what you suggested in above post to no avail , tried everything I can think of so I will try to explain better , using numbers for example , password is 12345 . What I am getting is 12345_ When I use the right arrow on remote the under slash will go to the number 1 then 2 & so on , when it gets to 5 & I press it again it should go back to number1 but it goes to under slash , hit it again & it then goes to 1 . If I put 6 where under slash is , delete the 6 , go out of server settings & back in , that dam space or under slash is there . This is stopping me from connecting as this information must match the server settings .

The underscore is there to tell you to enter your next number or letter. If all you need is 12345 then after you put in the 5 numbers arrow down to done and press OK on the remote. If you need 12345 Sam.work then enter 12345 using remote navigate to space click ok on remote then hit green button to change font and navigate to S and click OK on remote then navigate to the. and click OK on remote then the same for w,o,r and k.

OK guys ; I've decided to walk away from this FTA unit for a period of time . I've tried every thing & still can't get rid of that under score on three areas (which I have to do in order to connect) They are IP Name ; Password : & ID . des key & port work as they should . You guys have been great but now I need a break before I lose it & throw this thing against the wall . Going to take a month or two off . Then I'll try again .
