When you purchase a new Linkbox you should have the current factory file loaded on the receiver. If it is not the current file you can upgrade to the latest factory version over your network.
In the tools menu you find "Update by network." You can select that option and a download will begin. When the upgrade is finished, follow the pop up menu to prompt the reboot.
Upgrading 3rd party file
Although I don't personally recommend this because you never know where your receiver is connecting the option to upgrade over network exists for the 3rd party file as well. You MUST have a 3rd party file on the receiver to upgrade to the newer version. If you have a factory file on your receiver, you will get the newer version of factory file. If you have 3rd party file on your receiver you will get the newer version of the 3rd party file. Follow the directions above with a 3rd party file on the receiver and you will upgrade over the network.
