In Winnipeg, and looking at Lyngsat satellite maps. It suggests I use a 90 - 120 cm (36 - 48 inch) dish. Anyone got G19 C Band running with a smaller dish than suggested? I have a 36" dish I might be able to use.

If you're looking to receive c-band frequencies you would need a bigger dish than that.

What sizes are recommended for cband that far north? I have a 10' running at the lake for SES1. This one is for a friend for his roof. He's just interested in Grit Channel.

Satbeams.com has active satellite footprint maps, the link below will take you to G19's footprints, you select the "C" band footprint in the area at the top of the page.(it's a default to "C" band)

http://www.satbeams.com/footprints?norad=33376

Then you zoom into your location were the dish will be and click on it, this will give you an estimated dish size needed for good error free reception on "C" band at that location.

I have tried to get "C" band on a 1 meter dish with no luck, at least a 2 meter dish would be a starting point, but the further you go North the bigger the dish would be needed.

Satbeams is reporting for down town Winnipeg that at least a 130 CM dish would be needed, but you are right on the edge of the couture, so a bigger dish then that may be needed if he is further North then that..

Wow! Great webpage. It says 51" dish. I'll see if I can get him a 5' dish.

Thanks for the replies!

I'd go with at least a 6 footer, that will give you a better rain/snow fade margin.
