V14 locking up and freezing switching from tuner to tuner

My Jynxbox V14 is acting erratic. I have two tuners installed. One is connected to a diseqc for 91 and 82. The other is connected to a diseqc for 119, 110, and 129. If I'm watching the dish tuner and switch to the bell tuner the channels start to the pixelate and the receiver starts locking up and I have to keep hitting the power button on the remote to get it to turn off. When I turn it back on, the bell tuner works fine until I do the same thing again. Any ideas?

Does it run HOT? I would pull the tuners and clean the contacts with alcohol them wipe with dry rag when the alcohol was eveaporated. If that does not clear it, I would start looking for bulging CAPS and check the power supply that it is producing whatever voltage the specs say it should.

Box maybe overheating.Install a fan.

I have the cover off. The existing fan is running and I have a usb laptop cooler underneath the unit. Maybe I have a tuner going bad? I switched the tuners around today to see what happens.

Is the fan right beside the 8PSK like in the V26?

I think I read somewhere that the newer 8PSK board run cooler but not 100% sure... Anyway quite impressed with my little V26, it has internal PS... What about the V14 internal or external PS?

Hey bud,

It's just a fan glued to the case. I tried swapping the tuners but it's still glitching. I'm thinking I want to find and buy an original V2. I'm in Calgary right now, I'll call you when I get back home.

Dcapper,What happens when u use 1 tuner with 1 diseq switch & 4 sats?? Mine woerks perfectly like that. I can't get sat 129.

I guess I could remove the 2nd tuner. I've moved all but 129 on to one diseqc. I have a EMP Centari diseqc.

why use 2 tuners, would it not be better to just use 1 tuner and have all your sats connected to it?

I removed the second tuner and it didn't make a difference. I tried the other tuner too but it's doing the same thing. Either both tuners are going bad or the v14 is a pos. I think I'm going to look for a v2 original.

or it could be intermittent ISP... did you try clearing the static by completely shutting down your system(Jynx, Modem, Router & wireless if applicable) then booting it back up? If wireless have you tried an ethernet cable?

You need a power inserter to help power the LNBs, none of the jynxboxs have enough power for 5 LNBs.

Be careful with the power inserter as some have burnt out from incorrect installation... or running without it or enuf power...

I took out the tuner and am running 4 sats through an emp diseqc. It's still doing the same thing. I even swapped tuners. I'm thinking my v14 is just junk. So if I buy a new fta what do I buy? I'm looking at a Linkbox or a Dreamlink. Ideas?

Try reloading the file or try a different file to see if it changes.

if ur box is a V14 then I would run that file...if you can find the V14 all chunk file.

Can't find any v14 files. Any other ones you would recommend? I reset it all and it's still glitching.

EDIT: I checked the info and it's on v14. I'm wondering if I should go back to v7 allchunks?

Haven't heard many complaints about the v10 all chunk file. May also want to double-check that your lnbs don't have cover cracks or condensation inside them as well as all connections from lnbs to switches to receiver.

Thanks. I have dual lnb's on the dish. I moved them to the other port. Still the same problem unfortunately. I might go back to my Viewsat Max.

What type of LNBs are you using?
Have you changed out your switch with your spare one that you know is good?

You do not need a power inserter with regular LNBs.

You only need the power inserter for DPP with the internal switches.


If you put a power inserter on a standard LNB it will not switch between V & H transponders as it will be constantly putting out around 20V.

But if he is running through a EMP switch then only one LNB is lit up at a time anyway. I presume he is running standard LNBs so a power inserter will not work with them at all

I am just using standard lnb's. Port 1 is 119, port 2 is 110, port 3 is 91, and port 4 is 82. I even tried hooking up the second tuner running 119 and 110 on one tuner, as well as 91 and 82 on the other tuner. Still glitching. Maybe I'll get rid of the diseqcs and just run sw21 switches on the two tuners?

I would try a new switch first.
I have also had a bad LNB cause me all kinds of grief till I finally swapped them out, one at a time to find the culprit.

I could change the lnb but my subs are working with them. The emp I changed it with was another one new out of the box. My viewsat isn't doing it. I'm really thinking this jynxbox is jynxing me.

I factory defaulted the unit, loaded v10 allchunks and rescanned. Still glitching from south to north. I'm going to try changing the lnb's but I think I have a screwed receiver.

Did you do all the usual suspects like the power supply. Check the caps with as cap meter even if they look ok. It is an internal PSU in that unit right? If it's external try one with a higher amp rating or at least the same.
