Argentina will continue to host a round of the MotoGP world championship at the Autodromo Termas de Rio Honda until 2019 after agreeing a new three-year deal with commercial rights holder Dorna.

MotoGP returned to Argentina in 2014 after 15 years away at the track in Termas de Rio Hondo after significant renovations were completed in 2012.

The track played host to the second round of the 2016 season last weekend, at which it was announced that a new three-year deal had been struck to host MotoGP.

“We are very pleased to reach this agreement with Termas de Rio Hondo and all the parties involved,” Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta said.

“It has been a good project so far with everyone involved helping to create a great circuit, and atmosphere for racing.

“South America has a very big passion for motorsport and we’re proud to continue bringing MotoGP to Argentina for three more years.”
