Helio Castroneves will lead the field to green for Sunday’s 42nd Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach on the streets of Long Beach, California.

The final qualifying session held for the Firestone Fast Six - contested by four Team Penske and two Chip Ganassi Racing Chevrolets - was interrupted when Will Power overshot Turn 12 and was unable to get his car turned around in the runoff area.

“Every year in Long Beach I screw something up in some way,” explained a frustrated Will Power, who sits 12th in the points having missed the season-opener in St. Pete due to health concerns.

Defending race winner Scott Dixon, who comes into the race fresh off of his win at Phoenix, qualified second, while points leader Simon Pagenaud will start third.

The sessions were plagued with electronic timing issues, which were ultimately sorted out. However, Sebastien Bourdais couldn’t help but be frustrated, having set a lap time that would have put him in the Fast 12 just 0.2 seconds after the checkered had flown.

Sunday’s Toyota Grand Prix at Long Beach, which will start shortly after 4:30 p.m. ET, will see 21 drivers race for 80 laps around the tight and twisting 1.968-mile, 12-turn circuit.
