So I received this receiver and had a chance to get it set up. I'm very impressed.

The menu is easy to navigate and laid out well. Splitting Live TV, IPTV, APPs, Guide and Tuner functions. I found receiver upgrade via network and selected it and it showed the newest firmware was installed.

Once it was connected to the net, I opened up KODI and enabled TVheadend. I have not had a receiver that uses this function, and I really am liking it. Using Tvheadend in KODI allows access to the all the receiver functions through your browser. You can access your satellites, server settings, tuners, input IPTV streams, set up start and stop recordings, and view the EPG and channels. I played inside TVheadend for awhile to get familiar with it.

Checking out the tuners I started with the OTA. The OTA tuner set up is easy and fast. You scan in your local channels and then use local channel renumbering to put them where they belong in the channel list.

The sat tuner is the same, simple and fast to set up. I wanted to see what could be tested with it knowing that it's only DVB-S2 so I selected satellite 91 and input the dish settings. They have full TP lists so you need to make sure you select a working TP to get signal and quality. There does not seem to be a lock function for hitting the sats so I went ahead and scanned using "preset scan." It took only a few minutes and 502 channels were scanned in. Didn't appear to miss anything on the scan.

I input some settings for server following the guide. Withing a second of exiting the input I had a picture. The receiver has the fastest channel change response of any receiver I've had. Picture quality is excellent as well. Switching from KODI to Satellite had zero lag to connect, within a second the picture and audio returned.

There is some small challenge with the guide. The layout for the guide is good, however I can't get it to fully load. There are blocks of channels that load and others don't. I also do not see a sort by SID option for for now I have to use 1-502 for channel numbers. I would guess this will be addressed and easy to resolve.

There is an IPTV in the menu but nothing listed under it. This took a little while to figure out as it's designed to input stream lists or single streams. To test it I found a working free stream and followed the guide to add a stream. No issues and working great. Again when I exited I could not believe how quick the sat returns instantly.

One of the best things so far is how this goes from KODI, to IPTV stream to Sat/ATSC as fast as you can push the button. I will be continuing to test the capabilities of the receiver for some time. The possibility seem to be endless. I will be trying the how to get channels to your smart phone this week using TVheadend.

I should mention I was able to flash KODI with my favorite build as well.

Overall this thing is a top notch toy and I have no idea what the full potential is. I would expect good things though. I'll continue to post more as learn with it.

Great review Dells....keep us posted and thanks. ( by the way...is it the U4 Quad Hybrid you are testing and do you think it can move a dish?)

It is the U4 Quad hybrid. I believe it can. I don't have a movable dish at this time, if you tell me what settings you are needing in the receiver I would be happy to post some pictures or info for you.

thanks Dells. The setting should be in place where you setup your lnb's. There should be a spot that says user settings for moving the dish or setting it as stationary.

Nothing other than loving it...lol been messing with recording lately. I can log into the receiver and start recordings. Neat features, and being new some things just need others to experience them to help figure out all the capabilities. I'm hoping others will join in for more expertise and input. I've read they want this to be the best it can and offer support to make it that way. Hopefully some others will jump on board. It's seamless between its functions.

Dells,
Have you tested it with any of the paid servers like IPGuys or IPTVExpress?

I've used an APK for IPTV, not sure how or if you can install IPTV private on it without using stalker, an APK or M3U list or single stream entry. These are new, no real info until people start playing with them. I have not tested any of the IPTV services on the forums at all. So maybe it's possible. Sorry I can't directly answer.
