Not sure on that particular dish but some need a power inserter to operate properly. SV8000 maxes out at 500ma so if that dish requires more then that maybe the problem. Seems I have read where some require around 750ma to switch correctly. If Terryl logs on and reads this maybe he can way in on the specs. I've been using a motor since 2007 so I have only messed around with the lower end switches.

That being said I have seen my drop out completely and the reloading of a sat file cured it. Rule for the most part with S&Q issues is first while in the dish settings menu bounce some of the options around and see it comes back. If not then power off and back on via remote. If that doesn't work then hard boot or power off and back on via back switch waiting a short period of time between power off and back on. If that doesn't work then possible load file(s) such as sat file and or third party...worse case factory file then reloading of third party. Just keep in mind the more files that are loaded could cause the stb to lock up and require a force load. It is just hard to tell if and when that would possible happen. If after all this it still has not come back then it is a process of elimination with hardware...RG6, connectors and or switches etc.

One thing I will add...from my experience with mine once the tp's are updated to a symbol rate of 21500 the signal will not show although the quality will still show. But even with only the quality showing the chs. will still scan in. When scanning sats in which tp's are still at a rate of 20000 they will still show both S&Q.

Snappers right about the power, the Dish 1000 LNB needs 750 mA of DC current to work correctly, most FTA receivers can only supply 500 mA, the lack of DC current causes problems.

how do i increase to power supply from 500ma to 750ma on the sonicview so i can see if that is the problem

Not having used that particular dish my knowledge of how well it will work with a certain switch and or with the SV8000 is limited. That being said what I would do is find out as much as you can about that dish and what will and won't work with it switch wise. I did a little looking around and found a manual for that dish and from my read it will work with a DPP 44 swtich and power inserter but if I were you I would do some research to make sure that is the case. You will also need to research on how well a SV8000 will play together with that type of switch. I have seen those type switches on some of the selling venues for about 50 and above give or take. So before spending that kind of money on a switch if I were you I would double check to make sure.

If you are having an issue with getting a signal all on one side or the other such as all vertical or all horizontal tp's then it could very well be a power issue. Something else that might give you an idea if it's a power drain is to unhook all but one cable from the dish and see it the signal issue improves. For example unhook all but the cable to the 110 port and see if you have signal on all the tp's for the sat. If it does come back to normal then you could hook the 119 back up and see what result you get signal wise. And then hook the 129 back up and see the results. Just speculating here but I would say if it's a power drain you would begin to see a drop out after reconnecting the 119 or 129. Not saying it will or won't diagnose the problem but something to try first. Or kinda a process of elimination. This also depends on the type of switch you have now and to whether there could be a problem with it. I've seen the cheaper switches drop tp's or half would work and half wouldn't on a certain port on the switch when they began to go bad.

If you do decide to go the unhooking and reconnecting of the cables route make sure to turn the power to the stb off via the back switch before removing or reconnecting the cables. You may already know but just in case you don't or someone reads this later on you should never unhook the RG6 from either end before powering off the stb. If the power is left on there is a chance you will either damage the stb, switch and or the LNB. One other thing to keep in mind is there is always a possibility after a period of time not having enough or too much power could cause other problems on down the road.

toch1,

Have you updated your TP list lately? All diknet TP's are Turbo 8PSK, 21500 symbol rate , 2/3 FEC. Make sure none of your TPs are DVB 20000, 7/8.
