I opened it up ,not sure if it would be easy to replace

Its the white square with a dozen wires to solders25640

I haven't seen those type of things go bad often. I would suspect the power going to the gizmo first.
LED tend to be a generic device--look at Digikey catalog for a replacement or any of the electronic sites like Jameco, AllElectronics or Alltronics.
