GPS is used to support land, sea, and airborne navigation, surveying, Geophysical exploration, mapping and geodesy, vehicle location systems, and a wide variety of additional applications.

The only time I need to use the GPS is when I'm out fishing in the Sacramento/San Joaquin river delta, there are over 1000 miles of river, streams and back waters to play and fish in, you can get lost very fast if you don't know what or where you are at the moment.
Been fishing out there for over 50 years and still find new places to catch those big bass.

Yeah I use it to mark Ice fishing spots on the lakes... and the wife and I use it some times for Geo Cacheing kinda fun, like treasure hunting!

I use it all the time while out fishing. Great tool with all the marine charts and very useful when the fog rolls in and in the dark.
I have one in the Jeep that has been great in cities all over North America. I have always got back to the hotel. LOL

My Kenwood in my truck that does everything but order food for me at a drive through has a Garmin built into it. Only problem is I can't update the NA maps as the unit is discontinued and neither Garmin nor Kenwood release updates which sucks. Wish there was a way to update them.

agreed, my garmin has been "old mapped" for 7 years now.. the main intersections help but i depend on my waze when they change up the roads on me so i only use a little bit of data on my phone..

I wrote Kenwood about the issue about updates and never heard back. I might send Garmin an email and inquire but I am sure that if they did they would probably make you pay for it!

I use a Garmin that I bought two years ago from Canadian Tire. It has free updates for life.
I could get the software for my Grand Cherokee that uses Garmin but they wanted 650 bucks and updates cost money as well. The one for the Jepp will not let you do anything with it while the vehicle is out of park either. Pain in the ass if the wife wants to find something while we are moving or even look for an alternative route.
The other lets you do all these things while moving.

This update problem is why I only use it for fishing, the rivers never add new or change pathways, at least not till the next ice age.
I did run into a diversion dam once that was not on the GPS file, but found out it was not an authorized change, just some farmer trying to get free water.
