For some reason my DL T5 just lost all power, checked power supply with volt meter still pumping out the required 12 volts . any one with any ideas

also noticed that when I switch the receiver off from the back switch, the light on the actual power supply stays solid green but when I switch the receiver on from the back switch light on the power supply goes on and off

Model # RS AB025J00
Input 100-240V .. 50/60 Hz .. 0.8A max
Output 12V .. 2.5A
not that expensive...

you suppose that's the problem? I checked it with a power meter and it is putting out the 12.18 v

your post here #2 (http://www.satfix.to/showthread.php?196695-lost-all-power&p=1202172#post1202172) indicates a possible power supply issue...

in post # 2 that is what it does when I switch the power button on at the back of the receiver. Light goes on and off on the actual power supply. but when I check the power supply with meter it is putting out the 12 volts. that's why I ask

i'm not an electronics professional...but i have read about this problem before...regarding ur post #2 (http://www.satfix.to/showthread.php?196695-lost-all-power&p=1202172#post1202172)..a new supply fixed the issue..

Test the voltage on the motherboard when the power supply is hooked to it:in-circuit voltage may be MUCH lower than testing the termimals of the power supply connector.

well went and got a new power supply from the source, same thing this thing is dead , not sure where you want me to test on the motherboard

Not likely you have 2 bad power supplies:does the t5 have a fuse on the board?

nope, no fuse at all on this

If the power supply is good (seems it is from here) & the switch relays power to the motherboard (seems it does from here), then I say you have a problem with an smd somewhere on the board. If it won't light, you can't flash it, so you're in tough.

On a side note, many of the electronic failures on these Chinese torture devices pertain to capacitors:take a CLOSE look at the "cans" on the motherboard.Look for bulging/swelling.Heat is the big killer of all the stb's:almost all electronic failures seem to pertain to heat.

All electronic devices should have a fuse on-board to protect it, it may be what is called a "Pico Fuse" this type is soldered onto the PCB, it may look like a small green resistor or can, you can follow the DC power down through the circuits (be very careful) from component to component, but it should be the first thing in-line with the plus DC voltage.
This may be what your looking for.

..Along with checking either 5VDC or 3.3VDC coming into the main board...Normally those are the voltages used for the logic....Also sometimes something will "crowbar" your voltages.. Check your P.supply voltages without a load.. (disconnected from main board) Normally 12VDC and 5VDC are the standard voltages..

ok so I opened up the unit and took a couple of pics, I don't see this pico fuse you are referring too so I am gonna post the pics of the motherboard 2576125762

Very blurry pics... if you write down the info on one of those chips and search specs and pin outs on it.. You will find which pin is (5VDC usually) and which pin is ground... Measure the voltage on one of those chips... Do u get anything???.. I am looking at the bottom chips..I would check the one on the left of the other chip as that one has bigger surface mount pins... Good luck..

Just wondering if a solution was found. Same thing happened overnight, no power. Haven't done all the tests of previous posts but curious if it was fixed or a doorstop.
