I have a v2, and it seems the jb200's are burning out prematurely due to them running too hot,
any pointers or suggestion on how to keep the heatsink cooler on the module?
besides the obvious, increasing cicrulation in the unit itself

Thanks

Bill

You can buy a small computer fan for a few bucks and use an old USB cord.

Cut the end off the USB cord that does not connect to the receiver
Cut the plug off the end of the computer fan
Splice the red to red and black to black. Tape off any other wires.
Plug the usb into the back of the receiver usb port and set the fan over the JB200.

You could also just go buy a laptop cooler.

Also leave the cover off... How many sats are you pointed at? Are you using a power inserter? All Jynx are under powered so 3 sats max... certain set ups will require the inserter... incorrectly installed or not installed if needed can burn up your JB200s also...

You can get some laptop cooling fans with a pass-through USB jack on them, that way you don't loose the use of the USB jack, or the best way is to use an externally powered fan, that way your not loading down the power supply on the receiver.

And if you go with the external fan option look for the dBA rating on the fan, the lower this number is the quieter the fan will be.

Here is a good place to start, this is the power supply and they also have a great range of fans to choose from.

If you have a burned out one, pull the heatsink off and post what chip is underneath. Look up the specs/datasheet for the chip and see what it is rated at. Examine the board and see what it is getting for power, figure out the pinout of the board. There is a post that says the Broadcom chip is not soldered well to the board, you might want to examine the board and how is is layed out.

I had a small directional that I saved out of an old lcd projection tv that I scrapped, I used a dremel and cut a square hole in the cover, put the fan in it and used the usb option for power and the chip and the whole box is as cool as a cucumber now,

Thanks to all for the great suggestions

But now thats going to let all the RF out of the box and it will spill out onto the floor, you should have cut a round hole, RF will get out of a square one............................................... Sorry............................................. ..My fault.:innocent:

RF* it's what makes your receiver work..................................Sorry just kidding around......Partied too hard last night watching for meteors.

*RF or Radio Frequency, an electromagnetic wave at certain frequency's used to convey information, sound, music, voice, TV signals and other stuff.................It's invisible so you wont see it laying all over the floor...............:innocent:
