Problem with mag 256

Just unpacked it. Plugged it in. Infomir title screen appears for 10 secs. Then a bunch of screen flashing for 15 seconds. the screen turns blue and that's it. it locks up. Each time I plug in it, it does the same thing. Pushing buttons on the remote cause the light on box to flash but nothing happens. Would it be missing the preload program or its corrupt?

Try this


Unplug power of STB
Press and hold “Menu” button on RC (direct your RC to STB)
Plug power on STB with holding “Menu” button
Hold “Menu” button during 10 seconds.
Switch PAL - NTSC with single press on red button “F1” on RC.

Remote has no menu button marked. SO I'm guessing what you mean. Pressed the button with dots and lines on it. Interface starting . Then a bunch of flash then 20 sec blue screen and lock up.
Tried the three line button, same thing. Tried the little house button and same thing. Which button is menu.

It is the 3 line button.Do you see any blurred info lines?

Tried the three line again. It comes up in bottom left "starting interrace". Then flashes black, corner whitelines , then no connection then blue screen. NO blurry anything. Thanks for your replies

If your connected with hdmi to tv try the rca adapter cable to try to get menu options back.

Tried it to. No such luck. Contacted infomir and so far after 4 days all they told me to do is take pic of serial number and forward that to them. Very frustrated.

To high of resolution on the box. will not sync to TV. ON a different TV and turnEd down resolution. Working sort of.
Having difficulty entering in the donation. Stuck on authentication. Login is user and password is password, RIGHT. Comes back error. Where'd I screw up

Which server are you trying to setup?Most servers do not require login.If so you will be given your un/pw ot donation number.

Nfps. It asks for login and password. I was given username and password. I think it's the same but what I have does not work.

Nfps uses a number(12 digits) to login it is the same number for both un/pw.

I have tried that many different times with no luck. Checked to see if the donation was active and it is. it's probably something before that step entered wrong. I wish there was a guide for 256.

Go into system settings and go over to right column and scroll down to (clear user data) and click ok.Then go to left column and scroll to restart portal.Use your remote numbers and enter donation number in username then click down to password and enter same number then click down and click ok.You don't need on screen keypad to do this for un/pw entering.

Did you enter nfps url in server/portal setup?Do you have your box mac address link to your donation number?

Up and going. For some reason it would not sync my mac address. Modified at the donation site and working. The guide does not but will hopefully figure that out thanks.

The guide should be working some what.Did you enter (pool.ntp.org) in system setting/server/general ntp server?
