A neighbour lady was heading outta town to buy a car and I asked why. She said that she had had a bad experience at the local dealership. When asking why she said the dealership said that the low jack installed on her car for 500 bucks was law and that she had to pay for it. She later learned that was not true and was some upset.
The following day I get a call from a good friend and same thing. She was buying a car there and the low jack installed had to stay as it was law. Believing them she bought the car anyway and when she got home she found out differently, and within the hour she cancelled the deal. Guess what the 500 bucks she left for a deposit could not get it back. An hour had barely passed.
I could see this happening in the big city but this is a small town and to dump on a local girl for 500 bucks makes no sense other than they are greedy.
This girl also has worked in a local store for years and her husband is the manager of a local eatery. I would think those two could have sent them a bunch of customers but instead the dealership chose to dump on them. Makes no sense. But they are sure glad they didn't buy a car there. Just a heads up to anyone in that area to stay away.

Take them to small claims court and go after expenses as well.
