Have had this bug for months, I turn the volume up, set the remote down and after 10 seconds or so the T5 will boost up the volume 2 or 3 levels on its' own, same if you turn it down then it will turn it down farther, any ideas?

Is it the T5 doing it, or could it be what it's hooked up too (TV, Sound sys, etc. auto adjustment) ??

Your Tv will adjust the volume automatically ?? if so that could be your issue,
and what brand TV, I have heard/read T5 has querks with RCA brand.

How do you have it hooked up, HDMI, RCA, etc. try hooking it up different (cables) I HAD a wonky HDMI Cable once that
had me pulling my hair out trying to find what was causing my issue, awhile back.
Not saying that is your problem but worth a try

As a test, try putting a piece of cardboard in front of the receiver, make it big enough to cover the whole front of the receiver, see if this stops the problem.

If the problem goes away then it could be a reflection or direct interaction from some other device that uses IR to send/receive information. (many thing do now days)

Is the receiver looking at a wall or out into another room or out a window to the outside, what?

I have seen cable boxes act up like this when looking at an outside window, reflections from outside were affecting them.

I had one box that was picking it's own IR signals up that were reflected off the wall in front of it, I fixed it by putting an old lens out of a pair of Polaroid Sun glasses in front of the IR receiver on the box, problems went away.
