View Full Version : HDMI to HDV

I have been looking for a Grass Valley ADVC-HD50 HDMI to HDV converter. They are out of production and I can't locate any. There was one on ebay awhile ago but I didn't get it.

Basically I want to get an HDMI source into the firewire port on my PC. This box will do it but if any one knows of any other converter please let me know.

Thanks for the links guys but being the cheap bugger that I am this is too expensive to buy new. I'll have to wait til another comes up on ebay.

You might be on to something. I'll have to do some research on HDMI input cards for my old desktop PC.
I want to strip the HDCP and store the HD content and have the ability to output on firewire to my laptop and I also still like playing with my old JVC D-VHS which records from firewire.


Get a refurbished compter cheaper!!

You could go with one of these hummers, it will take an HDMI input and give you an ATSC output, you then use a ATSC USB device to record to your PC.

I think it even has an IP output, it may get you what you want.

You could also look at "Blackmagic Design" for PCI cards for your PC, along with their software you can create and edit HD videos.

Nice box and a good solution. I have to collect these ideas and keep an eye on ebay, I'm trying to keep costs low. :rolleyes:
