Every spring for the last few years i have the pleasure of cleaning cobwebs off the walls and ceiling of my workshop....I freakin` hate it!!
Since the Canadian gov`t has decided in all their wisdom that we as Canadians are too stupid and can`t be trusted to mix and spray our own weeds, pests etc my workshop in the winter is a heated haven for spiders, their families and their in laws` families....but no more. I live in a border town. With Detroit a short mile away $4.50 there and another $4.50 back is a good investment to kill all that ails me.
Every year I get my big shop vac out, every extension I own to reach the 12` cement/stucco ceiling, ceiling fans and walls and brush the freakin` cobwebs out....no more because after I`m done my neck hurts ,my shoulders hurt, and my back hurts....spiders beware...I now come equipped and I`m waiting for the little bas*****ds and I`m going to nuke them but good.

I use the hanging No Pest strips right in the corners, they last about 3 months, but if you mix your own then get this stuff from Sectacide, it works for about 6 months, you could get it in the mix to order bottle, but it depends on the EPA in your area.

As far as weed control I use some stuff from tractor supply, mix it to a 2% solution (for my 25 gallon sprayer) and add about 2 quarts of white vinegar, never have to mow that spot again, till next year.

Yup....thanx Terry....they sell Spectracide(premixed) in Detroit....I already use their crab grass killer that I also go to Detroit and get. Customers going to the US are allowed to bring back enough stuff for personal use as of last year or the year before....luckily I`m only a spit in a high wind away from Detroit so it`s no effort going to get it when I go to a game over there. Also great to get "Scotts weed and feed with HALTS" over there cause that corn meal crap we have to use now in Canada serves as bird food.
So next spider season those little F...ers better have their wills written out cause I`m nuking the entire garage.

This is the stuff I use for crabgrass ....gotta go to Detroit for it because Canada won`t allow you to use anything to kill crabgrass that actually works....never tried their fertilizer with crabgrass preventer. I use Scotts with Halts also in Detroit.
This stuff beats the crap out of Ortho productshttp://images.lowes.com/product/converted/071121/071121956637lg.jpg

Being that my garage is my workshop there is a lot of wood around...and even my insulation is 2"Atlas Foamboard(wood based) I must keep an eye out for carpenter ants and even termites.....There are a ton of "kills on contact" sprays on the market but I favor the kind they drink and take back to their nest to kill them....I buy 5 of these every summer and squirt them around the perimeter of my house(on rocks) and at the entrance to my garage and at the base corners of every entry door. I never get ants anywhere.........do it in early and late summer and you`ll never see an ant in or around your house....
keep away from pets!!

Split them?? or leave them intact?
Just leave 4 or 5 in a corner intact The wife had a cleaning business in Victoria and wondered why she kept seeing them in the corners They used them to keep the black widows out of the house

Mix some white vinegar into the weed killer (4 to 6 oz per gallon) it helps the stuff penetrate better.
Some weeds have a waxy coating on the outside, the vinegar helps break that down so the weed killer gets through to do it's job faster.
If you never want anything to grow in some areas, then just sprinkle down some rock salt, works wonders.

This is the stuff I use on weeds, kills them dead in about a week and much cheaper then Roundup.

See if the TC store near you has this stuff, then try and find a way to smuggle it in, one of the big bottles should last you a few years.

toss a little dish soap into the mix of salt and vinegar...the dish soap helps the solution stick to the weeds. Best used in the sun, it`ll burn the crap out of that weed in 2 days.
