The kids lost a heartbreaker I say!Certainly played well enough to beat the first placed team in the nhl.The boyz played with men & came within inches of winning.They made Canadian hockey fans proud.....even us Habs fans!Go Leafs go I say.

The kids did indeed play an inspiring game against a very good Washington team.................but in the end their nemesis got them again......yet another 2 goal lead blown and the fact they pretty much lost all offense in the 3rd period says they played pretty much much their normal game that they did all season. Andersen "played great"...........he allowed 2 pretty crappy goals amongst his great saves and I`m sure he`d be the first to admit it......the Leafs have to be better and it doesn`t matter who they play. Slot man in the 3rd period had plenty of chances point blank...why?...Kadri floating 10` behind the slot looking for that breakout pass. Third man in playing to the slot is a center`s responsibility, not once did Kadri cover the man on the initial rush the entire game....he cruised in after the play had broken down.......I`m sure Andersen noticed it.

Yes my friend the Leafs have progressed from last season in leaps and bounds.....but as exciting as this game was it was pretty much the norm for us Leafs fans. Great plays, great goaltending sprinkled with a couple bad goals, lousy defense, blown multi goal leads and inefficient 3rd period offense. It`s been this way all season....this game was a norm no matter what that idiot Hughson has to say.

With Polak going down their much maligned defense were the warriors tonite.............heart and soul won this game no question in my mind.

We`re getting bonus coverage today....2 games for the price of one........the first period and a half the Leafs were absolutely horrible in their defensive coverages, I was amazed it was tied going into the 3rd when out of nowhere the Leafs took over the game. Leafs defenese pinching a lot....feast or famine time cause more often than not you get caught on a stretch pass. We have a PP starting OT so let`s hope we can take care of it quick. Gardiner still scares the crap out of me every time he touches the puck although he`s settled down fine after that first period.

the thing with Reilly and Zaitsev is all year they were put on the ice against all the nhl top lines, they sheltered jake a lot, I see reilly as a number 3 or number 2 and Zaitsev as a 4-5 guy. they need to get a true number 1 which will be next to impossible this year, and a good 3-4 shut down dman. Alzner is ufa after this year maybe look at him as a shut down d man for next year, this years ufa list is pretty weak for d-men

That`s what`s good about stats....................nothing.............If you`d had watched Leafs games as much as Sonic and I do you`d know just how bad Marincin and Gardiner are in the turnover dept....Gardiner`s #s reflect a #1 pairing better than Weber, Doughty, Burns (Probable Norris) and Keith and he plays on a worse team which would elevate those numbers even more.....sound right to you? of course not....Gardiner was removed from #1 pairing and played against #2 lines and he played on a team that scored a lot and how many times Andersen bailed his sorry ass out.
Don`t be fooled by stats....they can be manipulated by the ones making them to make or break their case.
Reilly is our #1 by a mile................the rest will be altered hopefully by Shanaplan yr 3. They worked our forwards last year....this year our defense.

That 5/3 PP pretty much summed up the game as far as I could see. The Leafs were slow, tentative and had no urgency in their game tonite................it also verified what I said that our defense couldn`t handle the Caps forwards in our zone.............our worst game by far.

Their defense was exposed by the Caps...tie that with the fact they were too tentative with the puck and that spells a loss. Bright side here was they played like crap and still only lost by a goal.

LMFAO.....I`ve been waiting for Kadri to get what`s coming to him since juniors and he just keeps escaping. While his hit on OV wasn`t illegal it`s a cheap shot that we just don`t see because a low bridge can end a career in a heartbeat. It`s about respect for someone else to earn a living....clearly Kadri has no respect and he is a big part of what`s wrong with hockey. I just can`t see why so much time and energy always goes into defending him.

In fairness it wasn`t OV`s near miss that caused the reaction it was Nyshkin`s(spelling) slash to the back of his leg. That being said Kadri`s hit on OV was legal and OV did fake it and that entire scenario is what`s wrong with hockey as far as I can see it. OV disgraces hockey by faking the injury and Kadri making that low bridge hit can easily end a career and that`s why we don`t see it often. Players tend to have enough respect for each other`s right to earn a livelihood not to throw bridges....respect is something that escapes Kadri. Players hate him across the league and that`s evident with every team the Leafs play so I look at it that Everybody can`t be wrong.

The good thing about losing that game was that our needs as a team were completely undoubtedly exposed....the defense of this team are weak, can`t handle physically(GW goal) and make terrible decisions re Gardiner allowing walk in after walk in. Last year Shanny, Lou, Babs and Mark Hunter did an excellent job retooling our forwards with hunger, talent and character. This summer and draft should be the dismantling and rebuild of the defense. Things are looking up for the Leafs going forward.

Seven minutes and game seven....."TURN OUT THE LIGHTS" ..Leaf/ Hab fans where robbed of a nations champion by the the NHL. Both teams crossed over to Metro division avoiding a Leafs Habs first round matchup ,what a would have been. I thought the Defense and goaltending was good throughout the series for the Leafs other then the first 5 minutes of a few games. They may have a no name defense , but they did a good job. Could of swore Price was wearing that 31 in the blue paint when the leaker goal happened. T.O. could of used a pylon to prevent that one . lol Montreal fell for the same type of goals...trashy blue paint hockey. Buttman and the boys don't understand this ,but I'm done watching hockey now and don't give a crap who wins now. I'm an Oriole fan and enjoying MLB now even if theres 140 games left. "GO "O'S" GO

We`ll agree to disagree my friend....Andersen had to be the #1 star in every game to even give the Leafs a chance....all those point blank shots we saw in this series and all the rushes to the net were the result of the Leafs defense being so physically inept...besides Kadri seldom covering 3rd man in. Watching Leafs games all season we pretty much knew the need for at the very least a #1 pairing......the playoffs reinforced it.
