So......I got the chance to test this thing out. I was a big fan of the U4......but the U5 has exceeded all the expectations that were set forth. I'm not really sure where to start with it, so I'll just give it a go.

It has a duel tuner: ATSC and Sat There may be an option for MPEG 4 if sales take off

It has server capabilities: IKS and IPTV
With IKS you can record one channel and watch another on the same TP at the same time

You can load IPTV APK's or Import M3U via your comp or USB

It comes stock with some apps like KODI 17. I easily loaded my favorite build to KODI and everything worked great.

The WIFI antennae is quite large. It easily grabs signals and streams from distance no problem. Most of that is due to the chip set inside.

It's got plenty of memory and 2G's of RAM. It also comes with a sata cable and mounts. The lid is easily removed with spots predetermined to mount an HDD and cooling fans.....although it has never run hot.

It comes preloaded with PLEX. If you open a free PLEX account you start some pretty endless possibilities with sharing content to smart TV's, tablets and phones. You can record to the receiver and access your content on the receiver with other devices from wherever you are. You can also access other devices with the receiver and play them on it. Keep in mind you can watch live TV while the other devices play the recordings off of the receiver.

The buttons on the controller go direct to whatever you want to watch. You can be watching Youtube press live tv and in a second you got live tv. You can also do the same thing with your IPTV lists.

The browser works really well and the mouse feature on the controller works about as good as you can get without an actual mouse.

I am not very far into this thing at this time. So I will continue to update info, or if you have any questions fire away. I'll do my best to answer. So far.....my favorite machine to run.....ever. Extremely smooth and no hiccups between features.

More to come.......

The write up on it here goes way more into detail for the more advanced testers here. I would read a little more about it before snuffing the price tag. It's capabilities are vast. Read this here:

Only for sale I see is direct at $229 located here:

If it had a 8psk in it, it would be a buy. It would be nice if a genpix skywalker worked with it.

Hi dells
I ordered one of these U5 will be getting it this Saturday.

Cant wait to open the box.

Unless they changed something that I'm not aware of it does not do 8PSK. They intended to have it on this receiver for the North Am market, but didn't have it ready in time. That's the one thing they really need. They do very well in other parts of the world. The receiver itself is still amazing with excellent options and functionality. It's easily my favorite one because of the options for Sat, ATSC, Streaming, Kodi and many more apps. For example, I get free live streaming with my Sub, so I just put the apps on it and can take it with me and have HD live streams of my channels. The kids love youtube on it for music with the surround sound. Lots of things it does.

Let me know if you need any help with set up on either.

You're welcome......let me know what you think. Some things on it are not conventional for some set up portions. Let me know if you need a hand. I'm sure you'll like it.

Is that a Bell sub or one of the US providers? I've been thinking of using the free live streaming from the south providers but think they block from a Canadian ISP. Can you set up a proxy from within the receiver or do you have to do that from the router?

Obviously if the box can't do Turbo FEC then the box can't do US providers that are currently IKS available.

If they are just using a live stream from a legal subscription I don't see why they can't do US providers - they are not using a sat dish they are using an IPTV stream - so no problem with Turbo FEC.

That too is obvious, but at the start of the post they asked about:
Is that a Bell sub or one of the US providers?
I don't know how else to interpret that other than asking about IKS.
