If they decide to resurrect their services, they'll reportedly be hit with a hefty fine

Three Kodi repositories and add-ons have been shut down after being targeted by an anti-piracy group in Israel, it's been reported.

They all stopped operating this week after the group, Zira, threatened them with legal action.

Though Kodi isn’t illegal, people can use third-party add-ons built by developers to access illegal streams for sports events, films and TV shows through the software.

The EU Court of Justice last month ruled that the sale of media players deliberately pre-loaded with add-ons linking to copyrighted content is illegal, and sites like Amazon and Facebook have also started cracking down on so-called “fully loaded Kodi boxes”.

Zira filed for an injunction to stop the owners of abeksis.com, kodi-senyor.co.il and kodiwizardil.net from continuing to offer their Kodi services last week, reports TorrentFreak.

However, before the cases went to court, all three reached a settlement with Zira and closed down.

They will reportedly have to pay up 100,000 shekels (£22,000) if the choose to resurrect their repositories or add-ons in the future.

All three sites have also replaced their content with a warning from Zira.

“The site you’ve entered was taken down since it was violating intellectual property rights,” reads the message.

“The site’s operators were fined by the court and therefore the site ceased to operate!”

Earlier this month, Kodi add-on Navi-X was discontinued because of the legal issues surrounding people’s use of the open-source software.

It had been operating for 10 years, and was described as “the oldest Kodi add-on of its kind”.

Navi X was a community repo and open to all. What were the others?

Its those media boxes that will bring an end to Kodi! The repos and addons would have been ok
but they the boxes brought not only the heat from the law but the biggest problem was the devs
didnt like those boxes making money off their work this was the biggest problem so any of the other heat from the law they would have stood up to but now that all these ppl that are making money off kodi they are tired of fighting thats what happened to Navi-x it was more the money making issue than the law.It took the eu years to get its ruling there are 195 other countries in the world that havent got the eu`s ruling yet.I saw Navi-x coming to its end so i backed it up i have its entire content and working on scraped sites on Kodi others are too.

Box owners are now going to be the target of the real pirates your content will not be safe. The sub providers here have already been hacked you can find subbers donations with playlist scanners mostly made in europe with ease.
There will be many more learning how-to.Kodi may end but the pirates will live on Kodi ending might actually be a good thing it will create new avenues.

At the Flea markets in the states ( Florida) there were kiosks set up to sell IP TV boxes with the addons already installed.

They were called " Free TV for life."
they even opened up a storefront called Free TV for Life.

I believe they were charging around $350 US.

I see that they all disappeared now.

repo, links are like flys one gets swatted and another appears, kodi fans will just have to learn how to update their file sources, its a bit more work but not too bad. eventually repo links may distributed be like bin files.
