That is in Monument Valley Utah, were John Wayne was killed (lung cancer)(and several other western stars) by the radio active fall out from all the testing from the Nevada test site during the 1950"s.

Quite a few western movies were filmed there during the 1950's, testing at the Nevada test site caused radioactive fall out to be dispersed over that area, the action films (cowboys and Indian chase seines) raised a lot of dust, this dust had a ton of fallout from the testing, bad place to film as it was down wind from the test site.
