Turn off laptop.
Unplug the power adapter.
Pull the battery.
Rip the laptop apart.
Pull the Cmos Battery.
Pause 5 min.
Put The Cmos Battery back in.
Put laptop back together.
Put battery in (optional)
Plug in the power adapter.
Turn on the laptop.

Hey E,
You need to contact Dell for a master bios password.

Thanks a lot, but any idea.:noidea:

Doesn't make much sense. Perhaps the 5 min was not long enough. <br />
By doing this you remove all possible power to the chip which then on first boot it will revert back to manufacture hard code because...

Wait. Are you sure it is a bios password?

I remember when I was younger using like Windows Me or something my sister would by pass my screen saver password by hard booting the machine.

So I decided to install a 3rd party app that would ask for a password right before the OS started to load. There for if she rebooted the machine she would be stuck at that screen and I would know she was on my computer.

Sister / Brother rivals. Got to love it.

Anyhow. Can you do this. When you turn on the machine and at the Dell logo. Hit F2. Does it go into cmos setup? or does it prompt for password?
Report back on what happens.

Also try this and let me know.
Turn on machine and at the Dell Logo Hit F12
You will be displayed with boot options.
Load a bootable cd like say an XP OS cd.
Choose to boot from your CD.
If you can boot from an XP cd then this is not your Bios password causing this, but a third part app that was installed to the hard drive.

On a side note.
I promise Ill shut up after this one.

But a bios password won't stop the boot process.
A bios password will just prompt if you enter the cmos setup.

I think its 3rd party.

Ya got me all curious now :D
