Anyone having issue with this Dreamlink_T5_0106_0217P.bin?
Could this be causing the DL T5 HD to automatically reboot, and if so then to do a Factory Recovery....Factory bin....Factory Recovery...then use Dreamlink_T5_0105_0215P instead...then finally a Factory Recovery.
Sorry, but unfortunately I have to start a new thread because after using Dreamlink_T5_bootloop upgrade file.txt.
These are the instructions...
Unzip file and place only this file on Usb alone
Turn off stb at back switch.
Plug Usb to stb.
Hold in center front panel button and turn on back switch.
Light will begin to flash and front panel button can be released.
You will se progress meter on front display. eg. P1...p2 etc.
File will load and stb will reboot.
DO NOT interrupt this process.
After loading, do factory default at System Recovery menu....This last step I did not follow right now.
Following instructions carefully then the last step was doing a Factory Recovery then forced to use the
Dreamlink_T5_0106_0217P.bin which maybe why the box is still doing an auto reboot.
I recently used that Dreamlink_T5_bootloop upgrade file.txt, but left out the Factory Recovery step.
If I still get that auto reboot then it could be the newest DL T5 Bin that is causing that.
Please reply back to let me know because this has been going on for awhile and it did it twice today.
Thanks in advance.

Since it is not that bin then the best thing is to leave the Factory Set step out from the instructions because it still does auto reboot after loading all the bins after.

I have to agree.
Last time I had something constantly reboot there was a cold solder joint in the power supply.

I agree with you and staticrider after some troubleshooting and rebooting has come back again it could be the power supply.
Do either of you know what volt or voltage power supply the DL T5 HD takes, and where can I purchase this?
Update: I found this on another website forum....
the dreamlink power adapters come in 3 different types, or is what I found with the half dozen or so dreamlinks I have.
The one that has the wall socket plug combined together with the adapter and then one cord to the receiver, I found works the best. The ones with the plug and cord that then leads to the adapter box and then again another cord to the receiver aren't the best.
The one to look for is listed below, and has Made in China sticker on it.
Model # RS AB025J00
Input 100-240V .. 50/60 Hz .. 0.8A max
Output 12V .. 2.5A
I don't know where I would be able to purchase this because after doing a google search it told me mostly fleabay has it.
Thanks in advance.

Auto rebooting sounds like a "Heat" issue, something is over heating and causing it to reboot/shutdown

It could be, but the other dreamlink hd box I have does not do that and it feels kind of hot too. I think it most like would be a power supply or adapter issue.

Take the cover off and point a fan at it and see if it still reboots

I have a T-4 that did the same thing (rebooting) until i mounted a CPU Fan into the cover of the box
blowing air down over the HD-Module & POWER SUPPLY, fixed the rebooting for me anyway

Yep I could do that, but funny my DL HD ver.1 or 2 does not reboot and no fan on it.

Does your DL-T5 Reboot from The-Get-Go (COLD) OR start doing it after it has run for awhile (warmed-up/heat) ?
If it's doing it after warming up then that is pointing to heat issue (module/power supply running to hot)

It does it when I get a surge or spike from my hydro that could have fried a wire or two in the power supply or power adapter.
It did not do it before. I cannot find an outlet to plug it in straight in the wall. It is plugged into a power bar now.
Could be some damage in the power bar I don't know. I know when the power flickers off and on then it could do some minimal damage to the power bar or power supply/adapter.
Wear and tear from the power bar too.
I will try the fan and if it still reboots then we know it is the power supply/adapter or power bar it is plugged into.

I purchased a laptop pad cooler and put it upside down on top of the DL T5 HD.
It also has separate USB Ports so I can plug in my External USB Drive too.
I will know the next day after leaving the laptop pad cooler turned on when the screen for the External USB Drive comes on then I will know it does not have to do with the heat.
In case it is not a heat problem does anyone know what power supply/adapter I would have to purchase for the DL T5.
Would it be 12v?
Please let me know.
Thanks in advance.

Thank you for everyone that has been trying to help me with my DL T5 HD box.
I have tried all these steps below, but even after each step the DL keeps on rebooting by itself either by disconnecting from the power for a few seconds or turning on and off by itself.
The DL T5 seems to reboot no matter what I have tried in the 4 Steps to resolve and stop this.
It auto reboots every 24-48 Hours, and sometimes 2x in one day.
Please read all the steps I have tried below to stop, and resolve this...
Step 1.....I tried to use this Dreamlink_T5_bootloop upgrade file.txt and followed all the instructions...reboot still
Step 2.... I tried to do an FD then Factory bin....FD...newest bin....F...then rescan....reboot box...reboot still
Step 3.... I unplugged the DL and disconnected the coax cable that is going to the sat dish.....reboot still
Step 4.... I could not take the top off the DL because I have a pet and the pet hair could get in, but I did use a laptop pad cooler upside down on top of the DL that seemed to work but it rebooted itself again after 48 hours
I have 2 more Steps to try which you can please read below....
Step 5....Since DL is plugged into a power surge bar which I cannot plug into the wall because an older receiver was fried due to a lot of power surges and spikes from the Hydro in my area.
nobodyspecial has posted to replace the power supply or power adapter with a new one, but I am only guessing it is 15v.
Radio Shack or The Source in my area last time I had to replace a plug they didn't know, and asked me what voltage it was.
Step 5...Cont. I was thinking since I do get many surges and spikes it would not hurt, and hopefully help to unplug the box for 15 minutes and plug back into the wall maybe it will not auto reboot
Step 6...Hopefully nobodyspecial could please tell me if Step 5 does not work to replace the plug...power supply or power adapter from the box to the power bar with a new one, and the right voltage.
Finally.... If Step 5 or Step 6 does not resolve the auto reboot I would go to...
Step 7.....Maybe a circuit or wire is burned out which cause intermittent auto rebooting in the power surge bar, and to replace it.
Thanks in advance.

I was wrong with the guess of 15v glad you told me 12v. I will look and purchase one of those soon.
It was one of those that had a plug then a box to a plug that plugged into it.
Not a very good because I just touched it and it is very hot to the touch so it wasn't just the box then.
Thanks in advance.

Update: The Model # RS AB025J00 is for the DL T5 HD which is a power supply
Please Note: I have the ones with the plug and cord that then leads to the adapter box
and then again another cord to the receiver aren't the best.
Which will be replaced with The one that has the wall socket plug combined together with the adapter and then one cord to the receiver, I found works the best.
I have a picture of it and if nobodyspecial will post that it looks like the right adapter then it will be replaced by that item.
As you can see by the picture attachment that would the right adapter to be replaced because unfortunately the other one that I have does not last long and could be prone to rebooting when it slowly burns out.
Also if you cannot magnify the pic attachment it does mention made in china which is also important to look at.
Thanks in advance.

Have you tried to replace thr RG45 cable going from the wall into your receiver?
If not..
Try that...

The picture you posted is the right power supply. Before I retired I used to take care of the DOT traffic monitor camera's. Between the camera and the DOT was a video to fiber converter (MUX) using the same type of power supply only 9 volt. 90% of the time there was a failure it was due to the power supply. For some reason it measured 9 volt, the leds would come on but there was not enough current to run the MUX. If we ended up replacing the MUX we sometimes found bad solder joints where the female plug was soldered into the board. You should be able to purchase a power supply on Amazon for a fair price. Also you need to keep the vents on your unit uncovered both top & bottom to allow for proper convective cooling. A usb computer fan would work great for you if needed. A small 1 inch spacer on the side will help keep heat down from units that might be under your receiver. Placing a laptop cooler on top only traps the heat in unless it's the fan type.

Yes I have tried if you read the above post a usb laptop fan pad, and it did not work because it still automatically rebooted by itself.
I will however purchase that power supply, but I may wait for a post first from nobodyspecial to confirm it.

I have tried to unplug the T5 HD and then disconnect the RG45 cable and it still automatically rebooted itself so I know it is not the RG45 cable.
That is why I am going to try a new power supply thinking some wiring could have burnt out from normal wear and tear or from surges and spikes from the Hydro Company.
Thanks in advance.

Lionking:
Could you have a primary power problem and trying to fix something that's not broken? Hydro power is very reliable but it is not perfect.
If you do have a primary power problem most likely a small UPS will fix minor fluctuations, I have one on my security system.
Does your power fluctuate to the point of brown out? Lot of air conditioners running now and maybe a tree branch or two contacting high lines.
Have you check you house voltage and is it wired correctly?
You could also have.
1) Poor connection at receptacle or upstream one.
2) Loose circuit breaker screw or bad breaker.
3) Poor or corroded connection where Power company triplex (aluminum) connects to meter base or there transformer. The older 3 line setup spaced about a 1' apart is copper and more reliable. The Power company will fix for free, after all they have no problem charging you every month for there service.
4) Corroded aluminum housing wire? (hopefully not as it's a fire hazard)
Your Power company is responsible to your meter, You are responsible from the meter in. They will tell you if they are intermittently browning out if you call them. Also if you complain loud enough they will put a time lapse power meter in line with you house for a couple of weeks to check there equipment.
Is your problem frequent enough to take to a friends house or work where power is on a different transformer to check out? You do not need the RJ45 or the LNB plugged in to check.
Hope this helps, also sorry I didn't see the word fan in your previous post.

I know that the Dreambox and the Dreamlink are both different boxes.
The Dreamlink T5 HD box I have needs a new power supply or power adapter.
I also have a Dreamlink HD Box that has the same power supply or power adapter, but with all parts maybe it is defective or hit with spikes or surges from the hydro line because you never know.
I would have to replace that power supply or power adapter.
Thanks in advance.

I had the exact same problem with the unit continually rebooting sometimes, and was also getting "bad signal". Problem was with the power supply. Plugged in the power supply from my second T5 and worked fine. Get a new power supply.
