SV8000 receiver and i-hub been using this one receiver and set up for many many years. Its been turned off lately for several months, this morning I go and power it up and it displays on the tv " Updating hub" Weird.. haven't remembered a SV8000 receiver to do this before on its own when its not suppose to, been using these receivers for 10+ years..
Now I have no network connections in the Menue and lights are off on the hub.
Lucky I had a spare New Link hub, I swapped that in and all is good, lights are on on the hub and network connections in the menus and all is good. What happened with the i-hub and why would the SV receiver try to update it all of a sudden after many years of use?
I probably have to connect the i-hub to my computer now and re do the latest file on it which is a pain, I have to go find the program for it and files for it..
Thought I post this, if any one had this happen to them before? Any info about this greatly appreciated..
Thanks in Advanced, Fishbum.

My guess is the dongle failed, & the SV firmware treated it as blank & tried to update it.It is probably either bricked or dead.

Dang it... I'll try to connect it to wiz net on the computer and see if Wiz net can read it. Oh man I haven't done this in years, I don't even remember what file to use to try to un brick it. Any ideas what file to use with wiz net?

When wiznet can see your Ihub (Win-XP) you should be able to put Version 4.12 on it, you will most likely need the HD20_2028_NoChk file also

I found an old XP computer I had in storage, loaded wiznet 3.02 on it..
Connected the I-hub directly to the back of the computer ! no serial cables to worry about..
I ran the search in wiz hub and nothing came back, Version box is blank.
I'm not sure I have the settings correct in wiz net to do the search ..
Network, Serial, Options.
Static, DHCP, PPPoE
Operation mode - Client, server, Mixed, Use UDP mode
Use DNS..
What combinations do I use??
Just trying to being able to read the i hub at least I'd know its not completely dead.. so far it has no life.

I don't remember, with wiz net do I need the i-hub connected to the SV8000 receiver (powered on) and have the lan line connected to the computer from the I hub? Or can the I hub be connected directly to the computer...?
I remember doing this once about 10 years ago but I can't remember how to set it up again..lol
Thought I give it a try..

Just trying that now, Lan cable from computer to Ihub to receiver. I'm running wiz net search and nothing happening, nothing coming up in board list or version, all blank. No lights on i-hub either. :noidea: Not looking to good.. lol.

If you can't get wiznet to work for you, can (try loading) the files/firmware through the SV8000 off usb stick (upgrade)
It has been long time since i have done this, just trying to help ?

Thanks! Appreciate the help..
The SV8000 doesn't even see the i hub there's no network settings..
This i hub has no signs of life. It was working fine for all these years all of a sudden on boot up the receiver decided to "updating hub" now its dead.. so bizzare.. I guess nothing lasts forever. Lucky I had a spare working one on hand.
Well it was a vallent effort.. thanks all for the Help!

I wanted to suggest using a serial cable directly to the pc rather than going through the stb .Null modem if I remember correctly

P.S...it's unlikely the dongle "bricked" when you weren't doing anything to it.It is probably the Coreriver mcu. It's a common failure on the dongles.

Tried it again following Attachment 26883, wiz hub still cant see the ihub, search does nothing and no light on ihub.
I'll try to connect the i hub directly to the Win XP computer, I don't need a serial cable I'm able to connect the ihub directly to the back of the XP computer serial port.
Now in wiz net, I need to select the serial option for the search and it asks for, speed, Data bit, Parity, Stop bit, Flow... What settings do I use for those??

Doesn't it require a null modem( crossover) connection?I thought they did.

If wiz net couldn't connect to the I hub through the Lan connected directly to the computer from receiver/ihub, not getting my hopes up through the serial connections even when the SV8000 cant see it through its own serial connection.
I put every thing away, I wrote it off. I have my back up hub working, all good for now. If this one dies, its well over due to move onto a newer receiver any ways. Do they even sell hubs any more for the SV8000 ?

The connection has to be done with !!NULL MODEM!! cable, like what The Noof said
read through the Pdf Attachment 26883 I listed, it gives the speed, Data bit, Parity, Stop bit, Flow... settings etc.
and even gives a last attempt setup using a 9-volt battery clipped to certain pins on the I Hub to make it go

Don't think I have a Null modem cable.. I'd have to dig through boxes to look for one..
I was able to load wiz net on my Windows 10 computer, ran the search and it found my working I hub on the first try ! ver. 4.12
swapped in the dead I hub, ran the wiz net search.. nothing. Ran it at least 50 times still nothing. Swapped back in the working hub, light come on right away, ran wiz net search first try again found it, ver. 4.12. I guess my last try will have to be the 9V battery trick..?
