Well, today I'm a little bit sore from the big install yesterday and just changed out a broken fence post. I then started cleaning up one of my actuators. It is a Von Weise model # V00099BB76, 36 Volt, 2.75 Amp, 1/15 Hp, 19:1 Ratio and MTR RPM 1550. After sliding the boot off of the motor I disassembled the back and now I'll have to replace the gasket. I noticed that there was a fair amount of corrosion on the tubes and I then lost the O-ring at the junction of the sliders. Have yet to pull out the stb to check operations and may get to it later today. What would be a good compound to clean the outside of the sliders? I know several members have done miracles on their units and would like some pointers to get at least one of mine looking and working good. Will have to do a bit of research to find the parts I need and will take any suggestions as to where look. Thank you in advance and happy testing!!!

I've never taken apart a jack before but I know Augoldfinger did just recently and he changed a couple of parts as well. I'll pm him and see what he thinks.
PM sent.
post some pics of what you are lookin to replace. . .i or someone maybe able to give you a better alternative :D
i will start rebuilding two of mine actuators very soon also. . .
for the outside of the housin i dont think its much to worry about but im gonna clean it and have some 'clear' (what gives the car that shine) sprayed on on both tubes. . .

Hello My friend.
All my pics are on another computer, so I can't do much but provide you with some info I posted here
http://www.ftatalk.com/bud-discussions-pictures/345566-von-weise-actuator.html
Cract gave me a great website for a few parts here:
http://www.a1components.com/subcategory.aspx?pid=306
The old nut in mine was quite a bit larger then the new one I purchased. Come to find out A1 Components doesn't know anything about these & when they run out they are not going to replace them.
Also the nut is for an 18"...It does mount differently. I had to cut the end off the tube & drill 2ea.7/16" hole 180° apart. Not a big deal for a guy with the right machines. :comfort1:
If you need help let me know. My machines are still set up, but I don't know what shipping will be. To give you an idea

Also I had to make two plastic pins to hold the new nut in place...I'll go a head & make a few more just in case.
Anyway let me know if there is anything I can do for you.
Skvision has a "rebuild kit" Contains a new magnet wheel, Reed sensor, & something else...like $40. I was interested but they wouldn't send me a pic. There are a few kinds of these a 24 pulse & 42/48 pulse (?) I had the 42/48 or what ever pulse it is. I believe they sold these as 48, but my servo motor say's Von Weise 42 Pulse. I just didn't want to spend $40 for the wrong parts.
I forgot to mention.
I actually sand blasted mine. Both inside & outside. To get the rest of the sand/crud out of the smaller tube (w/eye hook) I used gas. I poured some in and shook it like a giant cocktail, repeating the process several times. Then let it dry in the sun & wiped it down with a good non residue leaving paint thinner.
It seemed to work :noidea:
I then used a good lithium grease on the leadscrew & put some down in the smaller tube

Thank you for the advice AGF! Am doing more research on finding a supplier closer to home as I hate to pay shipping if I can get it locally. It's trying to snow again today so not much got accomplished, just channel surfing too much.
do you think you can post those pics here for the ppl who are not members?
kindda hard for everyone who wants to see them to have to join up another forum first.

When I get a chance I'll post some pics of the actuator I'm working on. Been trying to snow here all day so I decided to take it easy and read the manual for my receiver. The tech has sure come a long way since this manual was printed! Can't find a copyright date anywhere here so it's all guess work as to when it was printed.
Happy Testing!

Got the actuator working and then almost totally apart. Guess it's only a 24"er, thought it would be more. Was a little noisy, the solenoid banging a little, could be I didn't tighten it up enough. Giving the boot and O ring a bath at the moment in the sink with warm soapy water. Will have to dig out a wire wheel for the tubes when I get a chance. On the edge of a blizzard today, terrible weather out.
Here are some pics of the Von Weise apart. Still need to find a gasket kit for it.
