I'm with you - I had to hug the canyon wall when I took a short walk down a Grand Canyon trail :-) - it's scary when you see the mule footprints only a couple of inches from the edge of the trail

Read some books by Edward Abbey, they all about mostly the southwest desert and he was a great writer and anyone wanting to gethere needs to read an Abbey reader (spl? wtf). I have them all...
