There are the same thing, you need your mac address to enter in STB emu. While the actual device you have is already "pre-loaded"

When I enter my Mag256's MAC in STBemu it just displays to contact Provider to register your device. I am using one at a time device (Mag256) is unplugged.

i don't think you get the full experience with an emulator. after all its just coping the actual program.
i prefer the apps on the unit.
just buy the right box and use it, not buy a cheap android then run an emulator.
