What satellite this TP is on would help us a bit to help you better.
And a cap problem will not affect if you can get one TP or not.

Seen a ribbon cable get flaky and cause problems with quality. But it effected them all and not just the one.

It could be TP-Drift, if the receiver has the ability try adjusting the TP itself, go up or down one or two numbers and see if that improves it. For example try.....12456 or 12458.

Guess anything is possible but imo and in messing around with the Freq. I never seen any improvement. Most of the time problems such as this are a result of connection corrosion, switch and or alignment trouble. Guess lnb could be suspect as well do to age and or cracks. Most conus tp's after alignment and tweaking I would say should be close to 90% give or take. Seen spots a bit less. Sometime one has to take everything out of the equation and start from jump. Of coarse those that have a roof mount will have a lot more trouble with the trouble shooting. Could always be an internal thing with the stb as well but the external stuff is the usual suspect.

I agree, usually stuff like this is a LNB issue and sometimes you can fix it by playing with the TP freq. It's interesting that other STB's work fine so maybe it is a failing LNB and the Sonicview has a weeker tuner in it than the other STB causing the issue only to show on the Sonicview. Swapping out the LNB would be my second move.

went on the roof and replaced the coax rg6 f type male connector and sure as ***** everything is working great i cant believe that a corroded connector would cause one tp to act up
thank you everyone for your help
