I think GGG had the edge in the first fight but didnt dispute the draw.
Canelo is in his prime and at the top of his game he will win the fight
by a UD.I think and sorry to bring up the name of pretty boy Floyd
but Canelo would now wipe the floor with him!

I dunno that's what I thought last fight and it didn't turn out to well for me..Good fighters have a way of shutting him down and making him ineffective-And now that he's off the horse meat I dunno..

Well guys, this one is gonna be a toughie... GGG has not really looked good in his last
fights. He doesn't seem to be hitting as hard as he use to... age no doubt.
I think Canelo has an excellent chance to win this fight.. even win by KO..
BUT, what holds me back from picking him is SIZE. GGG looks much bigger and will
probably have Canelo by 10 or so pounds.. which will enhance his punching power and
ability to take a punch...
This fight might come down to stamina.. I think the longer it goes the better Canelo"s
chances of winning .
But,, size and punching power draw me back to GGG.
Definitely could go either way though... Lets just hope its a good fight.
These guys definitely don't like each other, which should add fuel to the fire.
In an era in which the best boxers often avoid fighting each other, the sport is treating fans to a second matchup between two of the finest fighters of their generation
On the line will be Golovkin’s World Boxing Association, World Boxing Council and International Boxing Organization middleweight belts.
Over a career that dates to 2005, Canelo has just one loss, to Floyd Mayweather Jr. by a majority decision in 2013 His victims include Julio César Chávez Jr., Amir Khan, Miguel Cotto and Shane Mosley.
Golovkin, 36, remains undefeated through 39 bouts, including 34 knockouts, many of them ferocious. He is an inch and a half taller than Álvarez. Golovkin is ranked the No. 1 boxer in the world pound for pound by The Ring magazine. Álvarez has recently been ranked from fourth and sixth, although he is out of the top 10 because of his positive drug tests and inactivity.
It should be a battle of strength versus speed. Golovkin’s willingness to fight all comers and his hard-hitting knockouts have made him a sensation among fight aficionados. He should be the aggressor and will look to stand and trade punches.
Álvarez is more subtle. He also may have a speed and maneuverability edge. He will dart in and out and try to avoid the big punch from the more straightforward Golovkin. His defense against Golovkin’s aggression should be the key to the fight.
Álvarez checked in at 159.4 pounds and Golovkin at 159.6, under the 160-pound limit.
Who’s going to win?
That’s hard to say. In the betting, Golovkin is a slight favorite. The betting also skews toward a decision, rather than a knockout by either fighter.
Experts surveyed by The Ring leaned to Golovkin, 13-12.
Not sure who's gonna win and unless we end the night with another judges stealing the evening with yet another controversial scorecard,, we should be in for a good night of boxing. Not just the main event but also the under card which includes a few Canadians; The most notable fight is a light-middleweight championship bout between the champion, Jaime Munguia of Mexico, the heavy favorite, and Brandon Cook of Canada. A middleweight bout between the Canadian David Lemieux and the Irishman Gary O’Sullivan, both former titleholders
Should be a good night --------- 3G's by unanimous decision

Hopefully the fight will be judged and refereed as good as last nights fight Ramirez vs Orozco
which was one hell of a fight! After seeing the weigh in Canelo does look smaller but has a lot to prove
after the ped situation like the mouth teddy says Canelo is really pissed about that but needs to keep his composure otherwise GGG could score that knock out punch.I think the only thing is in Canelo`s favor is GGG`s age if they both were 28 i would have to give the fight to GGG.....

Great fight!!! Totally agree with the decision... both gave it their best.
GGG does not hit like he use to.. he was more tired than Canelo..
I actually had Canelo by 3 rounds... body shots and aggressor.
Totally enjoyed it... don't think i wanna see another one though... other

Got Spence and the Charlo boys waiting.. GGG will be 40 by the time they fight again.
You guys read where HBO is easing out of the boxing business?
Must say, they do have some crappy fights on there.
Actually the rest of the card last night was pretty bad.. mismatches.
Looks like it will be up to ESPN and Showtime
Oscar De La Hoya issues open letter to fight fans
Dear Fight Fans,
On the night of Saturday, September 15, fans were set to be treated to what sports should be all about: the two best athletes in a sport squaring off against each other with the winner earning the title of the best in the business. This kind of an event - where an individual can be called the best in any sport -- is truly rare.
Not only did the fight itself deliver all that was promised, against all kinds of pressure, Canelo Alvarez gave the performance of his lifetime to secure the unified middleweight championship of the world.
Unfairly criticized for not fighting “Mexican” enough in the first fight, he kept Gennady Golovkin on his heels all night, taking the action to the “boogeyman of boxing,” walking him down and controlling the pace.
Repeatedly ravaged for two positive drug tests that showed minor traces of clenbuterol - a common occurrence in Mexico due to the contamination of beef across the country, Canelo submitted to more than 20 drug tests in the lead up to the fight and passed them all with flying colors.
Saddled with a judge’s card of a year ago that he had nothing to do with; the pressure of millions of fans watching; and what many were describing as a must-win to stay relevant, Canelo delivered a near-flawless fight.
And yet...
It wouldn’t be boxing if thousands of keyboard warriors weren’t talking (or tweeting) complete nonsense in the hours and days after Canelo began to cement his legacy as an all-time great fighter.
Many have told me to ignore the haters; that I’ll never win. But while I know I won’t convince many of them, allowing them to even partly soil what was a certain fight of the year; a megaevent seen by millions of people; and a virtuoso performance by boxing’s marquis fighter would do a disservice to the sport I love.
So allow me to respond to a few of the more absurd comments.
Golden Boy paid the judges to fix the fight.
Though I don’t think this deserves response, here are the facts: The three judges were chosen by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. Given the result of the first fight, NSAC was under a lot of scrutiny to come up with the fairest group of judges possible. For the first time I know of, GBP and team GGG were even allowed to approve a pool of judges. They saw what everyone else did; a close, competitive fight and scored it exactly that way.
Golovkin landed more punches and therefore should have won the fight.
If landed punches were the difference between winning or losing a boxing match, we would have an incredibly different and less interesting sport. Clean punching, ring generalship, effective aggressiveness and defense are what the judges are looking for in determining the winner of a round. I’m obviously a promoter, but in the four areas that actually count in judging, I can’t find one where GGG was the victor.
Tom Loeffler’s statement that he doesn’t know if Golvokin can win a decision in Las Vegas.
Perhaps Tom is just looking to make GGG feel better, but regardless this is maybe the most disappointing comment, because it comes from someone who knows the sport. Of course, GGG can win a decision in Vegas. But 22,000 people aren’t going to crowd into the T-Mobile to watch Golovkin fight and blast out the likes of Dominic Wade, Willie Monroe, Jr., or Vanes Martirosyan. He is going to need to fight a higher level of competition - and then fight better than that opponent - to earn a victory in the mecca of boxing.
Boxing is a wonderful sport that is coming back thanks to streaming technology and growing international interest. But it is a sport that also faces competition, not only from the outside in the form of other, more-widely watched leagues, but from inside where the fractured nature of boxing has made it tougher and tougher for the best to face the bes
Just look at celebrity row to see how special Saturday night was. There, another best-in-sport athlete, Lebron James, joined Will Smith, Mark Wahlberg and a huge group of other A-list celebrities to witness something special.
While everyone is entitled to his or her opinion (especially in boxing), let’s take a moment to appreciate what Canelo and GGG gave us on Saturday night and work towards doing it more often for the sake of the sport we all love so much.

Yep, happy for Canelo too... he deserved it.. when the last time you saw someone
make GGG back up and put his hands down by his side in exhaustion.... he took some
vicious body blows...
The latest I have read is that Canelo not in that much of a hurry for a 3rd match..
Canelo says he wants Canadian ko artist David Lemieux on December 15.. the Canadian
knocked out his rival in the prelims... but, GGG already knocked Lemieux out..
Canelo said if he does fight GGG again it would be in May of 2019..
But says he wants to fight this year. (50 mil doesn't go far these days)
Canelo was clubbing all around Vegas after the fight... an ex girlfriend texted me and
told me she saw him at the Paris Hotel...well, his body guards anyway.. didn't actually see Canelo.
Big crowd around him..
Course Teddy Atlas thinks GGG got robbed..so does Stephen Smith on ESPN... both nuts!
GGG trainer thought the fight was a draw!
Boxing fans like to see KO's or beatdowns
when a fight comes as close as this one did ,, everyone becomes a
boxing expert depending on who's side they're on
I also thought it was a draw ,,, or at least would've liked it to be
But by the end of the fight GGG's face showed the battle scars and
his body hid them ,, I can only imagine what his rib cage looked like
apart from the "headbut" cut on Canelo's face he looked like he went
for a jog and wasn't even winded
and even though I wanted it to be a draw ,, I also think the right
decision was made
Stephen Smith has got to be the most "one side" "opinionated" d*ck
on sports television ... don't even know why he still has a show

yeah he was pretty good but no match for Salvador Sanchez who tko`ed him twice!

Yes, he was great! His brother Indian Red Lopez was a very good fighter too... not as good
as Danny though..
Yes Highway, Salvador ko'd him twice.. but Danny was at the end of his career and Sal was
just starting.. Danny hit Sal with some vicious right hands that woulda ko'd anyone else.
But combo of Danny old and punchy and Salvador a granite chin and young. Plus he hit hard too.
Danny ended up in very bad bad shape..like Bobby Chacon and the Querry brothers and of course Ali.
I spoke to the owner of the Main Street gym in Los Angeles after Danny tried to make a comeback.
He says the Ca boxing commision went to see Danny spar in order to reissue his license.
They saw one round, stopped the sparring session, took Danny and his manager Georgino to a room
and promptly left... no way! This mighta been his 2nd comeback..not sure. But it was his last attempt.
Ernie has left us... Think Danny still with us.. but in bad shape. I remember Chacon could not even
talk anymore his last 5 or so years in his life.
Off topic I know... but just started reminising... sorry.
Born and bred close to downtown Los Angeles... walking distance to Howie Steidlers Main St gym.
They ALL trained there.. even movie stars. 50 cents and you walk in and mingle.
OK... sorry.

Great post Steve...that was Howie... he owned the place... him and Duke his colored assistant.
Boy could Howie cuss!! never met anyone in my life that could cuss like him.. but it was funny.
He cussed out Sonny Liston when Sonny was 2 or 3 hours late for his sparring session.
Sonny ignored him.
Howie was murdered on a freeway offramp... never found the killer..
Couldn't read your column... but i know most of it... Danny and Ernie both trained there..
Danny was the nicest guy you could ever meet... Ernie didn't talk much.
Great days! great people back then.

It looks like Canelo will be fighting Rocky Fielding this coming Saturday and broadcasted by dazn. HBO is now out of the business broadcasting the ppv fights with DAZN being the new player in town. Will it be live streamed on the services?
Which sports will live-stream on DAZN?
In the U.S., DAZN offers fight fans live boxing and MMA events. And a live look-in baseball show arrives in time for the 2019 Major League Baseball season where fans can follow game-by-game action in real time. DAZN will also offer on-demand MLB content plus live weekend wrap shows.
DAZN Group signed a $1 billion deal with Matchroom Boxing USA to live stream 32 fights per year exclusively on DAZN, and another nine-figure deal with Bellator to live stream 22 events per year. DAZN will also live stream the World Boxing Super Series' 15 fight nights each year, featuring a total of 21 bouts across the three knockout tournaments.
