xbox 360 hard drive movies

i have movies on a external hard drive.i tried connecting the hard drive to the xbox but the xbox cant read the hard drive.....

I watch movies all the time with my x-360 and playstation3,i just plug in my external hard drive and go to video library,portable device push and play them,with the x-box 360 you have to get a free x-box live card and download an upgrade,then your set,No more making dvd's for me!!!:thumbsup:

hard drive has to be formatted as fat32 to work on xbox 360 or ps3 most new hard drives are ntfs

If you xbox360 is jtagabble you can do more than that. Like saves all your games on your hard drive and play them from there.

xbox wont read some movie formats like .mkv

you can get ps3 media server and stream all movies from your pc to xbox via home network

Windows Media Center is another good alternative as an interface to stream content from your pc to your xbox.

make sure you have the latest firmware update and try all usb ports

I think JTAG's allow for video playback.
