been under that arch many times so foggy you could not see any of the bridge, just listen to the fog horns and check the radar frequently, retrieved some of the "jumpers" all a long time ago

you would like the wages that those bridge workers get, the CHP actually has had cameras even way back in the 70's to watch for jumpers, believe it no not but when the moon was full, more attention, and if the tide was going out or coming in some we found some never were found
