Hi All, a new computer problem at this end has popped up, some times when things get slow around here I watch videos on youtube, now here is the problem, at random times the video just stops and the PC locks up, I have to do a power down reset to get back up, this just started in the last few weeks.

It a Dell all in Inspiron all in one, I have external fans mounted on it to keep it quite cool, and I don't think it's a hardware problem as all hardware scans and tests come up good.

The reason i'm using an all in one is that the old back is giving me some problems, the all in one is mounted right next to the lounge chair, so it is very convenient.

All hardware drivers are up to date, and firefox is the latest version, and window 7 ultimate is up to date.

So....Has anyone had this problem? And do they have a fix or maybe the cause??

Any help would be appreciated.

Pc hardware tech i am not but i wonder if its not a youtube problem?Youtube has a daily time exception
that seems to effect ppl differently some will get a warning you have exceeded your time limit i have heard some ppls pc have crashed. How are you using youtube straight from the site or from a kodi addon?I know you already know the scripting is different on kodi addons opposed to the sites.

I sometimes get different results using youtube on my playlists using xml and json scripts

xml

This may be not at all related to your problem but if i share my playlists some of those i share with have had problems with the time exceeded error using the xml script but not using the json script.

You might run into similar problems with the time exceeded error at youtube if you and others on your network
watch a lot I know i have read that some get the warning and some have had their pc`s crash.

Can you try a different Browser (Chrome) see if it does the same thing ?
Or could the Newest ver. of Firefox have a glitch in it with youtube
also you could try and revert back to Classic YouTube in add-ons

This may work, In Firefox Safe mode these changes are effective:

hardware acceleration is disabled (Options/Preferences -> General -> Performance)
all extensions are disabled (about:addons)
default theme is used (no lightweight theme)
default toolbar layout is used
xulstore.json is ignored
userChrome.css and userContent.css are ignored (chrome folder in profile folder)
JavaScript JIT compilers are disabled

plugins are not affected
preferences are not affected

Yes to Augie. The first thing to try is another browser.

This only happens on one PC, I have 7 plus a server, I don't think it's a timeout problem as the other PC's work fine.

This only happens on youtube, and I'm using Firefox with W7 on all.

I done use chrome as it reports too much info back to google.

I will try the Firefox in safe mode and see what happens. (on that PC)

I'm going to try Opera and see what happens.

sounds like a video card issue

It still might be a driver issue (video) like DU said.

One other thing you could try is roll back FF to a older ver. and see what happens

Are you using FF in 32/64 mode ?

Might be Adobe Flash Player hardware acceleration
Remove the check mark from Enable hardware acceleration.

Do you use a program like CC Cleaner to clear out junk files once and a while?

i bet is you hardware acceleration in Flash Player

Go to this Adobe Flash Player Help page.
Right-click on the Flash Player logo on that page.
Click on Settings in the context menu. ...
Click on the icon at the bottom-left of the Adobe Flash Player Settings window to open the Display panel.

As to the monitor, turn off the screen saver when you play videos.
There are also software screen savers you can use.

It's an all in one PC, onboard video, so no way to add a video card, I will have to look for some updated drivers if avalible, or even go back a few.

FF is in 64 bit mode, as stated this just started happening.

And all scans for malware, virus and ccleaner have done nothing to fix/find a problem.

Might want to do a Clean re-install of FF, and don't use 3rd party uninstall tools (revo, etc.)

uninstall Adobe Flash Player..see if you have same problem...

Dang...I will have to get back to this when I get my internet back up, it crashed last night around midnight, I'm down at the local market in the coffee shop with the laptop.

The customer service for my internet goes home at 5PM on Friday and doesn't answer the phone till Monday at 8 AM, piss poor service but it's better (faster uploads) then satellite.

When your PC is back up, Take a look in Event Viewer Hardware/software see if there is any warnings etc. that might give a clue on what maybe causing these things. when PC Crashes are you getting (BSOD) OR just locks/freezes up.

Don't feel bad. My new Macbook runs out of memory when I run Firefox and it has 16gb. They have lots of issues and they don't seem to be addressing them properly. Chrome would be the best bet but like you said it sends too much data back home to mama. I have Safari but I'm not a fan of it.

OK this is funny, it's all working fine right now, (PC and internet, internet had mice problems) it can't be an overheating problem as I have external cooling fans mounted on the hot spots.

My ram load is under 45%,(8 GB) my CPU is a quad core i5, and it's at around 10%, it may be a problem with the onboard video drivers (I wish I could go with an add on video card but this is an all -in-one) but there has not been an update for them from the out of the package first run.

I will have to keep an eye on this...

As to the internet problem, it was not the IP provider at fault but a mouse problem (organic kind) found a unused LAN cable (running under the house to the guest room) that had been partly chewed through,(found during LAN cable testing) this had shorted out some of the pairs to the router, I have a new router in place as this may have damaged the internal switching, (I always have a spare) and a new backup on order, this fixed the internet problems.

Next step is to put the LAN cables into conduit, and look for some Cats that will get along with the Dogs.

OK kids, I think I may have found a fix for the lockup problem....After many long nights looking for a solution to this I came across a post on the Malwarbyte forum, it looks like others have this same problem as I but not all.

It looks like Malwarebytes pro when used with windows 7 pro or ultimate on certain PC's has a problem, if your using the WEB protection option it can/could lock up the computer, one of the suggested fix's can be as simple as to turn off this option, another is to go back to a previous version of MWB's and turn off the auto update option till they sort this out.

I am trying the first one, we will see what happens.

auggie

I read on some of the forums, that Malwarebytes has found a way to block/stop the use of "Hacked" 3.6 versions being used
and that is what is causing issues with the New Program 3.6

Terryl
01-09-2019, 09:45 PM
Well so far the system is stable, I didn't see anything about a hack on MWB on their forum, I guess time will tell.
