Anyone know of a device or way to test the LAN ports on a router and switch, I need to check the in/out levels and is that port weak or having problems.
Why??? I had some mice problems by them chewing into the CAT5 cables and shorting them out.
System setup is as follows.....WAN modem to router, router has WIFI and 4 gigabit LAN ports, output of LAN ports on router go to 3 network switches and one main connected computer, outputs of switches go to multiple computers, 3 satellite receivers a Bluray player, a network attached storage device, 2 security DVR's, and a pi-star radio hot spot.
All equipment LAN ports on attached equipment have been tested using a second standby router, the switches need to be tested, the same with the LAN ports on the router, CAT 5 cabling is being tested.
I need someway to test the outputs of the router and switches to see if they are weak (low output levels) or in someway damaged, all the test equipment I have is for checking the continuity of the CAT 5/6 cable, I have no way to test an active router or switch LAN port.
All computers connected with WIFI work fine with out problems.
So I need someway to test the LAN ports to see what what.
Any ideas????
