I watched a carpenter bee drill a 3/8" hole in my 6"x6" pressure treated post years ago
it killed him..lol

I see HUNDREDS of them on our annual trek to the cabin in the TN smoky mountains.I guess they are little fatter in TN (American bees...lol).The holes are 7/16".If you have repeat issues with them DU, you can get a distraction thing for them that will keep them off your deck.The cabin owners in TN have them at all the cabins, & they seem to pretty much leave the cabins alone.

when I was building houses we had a distraction device
it was called aluminum fascia...lol
