New 2017 Buzztv XPL3000 won't update

I have a new xpl3000 that I bought in 2017. I think it is Android 6. I threw it in a closet, and never used it. I set it up today and I have version 1.6(86). How go you get it to update? I have it set to auto update but nothing happens.

Not 100% sure but I believe you can use aptoide and update the buzz app.
