Hi Folks
If this is the wrong place to ask this let me know lol
So I have not had a VPN in sometime and have a few questions
1- will a VPN effect IPTV streaming live tv
2 - does it cover the entire home network
3- any recommendations for a VPN service in Canada

1- the oneo tested free does reduces the internet speed and consequently causes freezing.
2- it affects only the device installed on, not the whole home network.
3- the famous paied ones:north, and expresse to my knowlege.

tried hola last year and no freezing
you can install vpn to router so whole network would be affected

Running NordVPN on a Asus router with Merlin software and get better than 90%.
25 Mbps service (always get 23+) and can watch IPTV on two streaming boxes at the same time.
Since Nord allows multiple connections I'm testing a TP-link with DD-WRT (but only get 60%) for a family member, still good enough for one IPTV.
The good part in using a router is anything you want thru the VPN goes on the router AND anything you don't want goes on the ISP modem/router.

I hope I'm not hijacking the thread, but I've been thinking about using a VPN service lately, but my IPTV service says if they catch you using a VPN they will ban you... WHY??

ProtonVPN is another reasonable consideration.
It has a free version that never expires. The free version limits your speed but doesn't have a data limit.
you might want to do some research on Hola. I have read that it doesn't encrypt anything.

I used it last year and called my ISP and told them if they didn't stop throttling a few url's I was going with someone else
presto
no more buffering

It’s a security issue for the provider because it’s easier for you to leak streams behind a vpn. I have a provider as well that does not allow them and that’s the reason they gave me.

why would you use that provider then ?
if you want to take the chance that's up to you, but it doesn't make much sense to me
